I've been visiting this forum because I may be a female prisoner soon. I am still waiting to see what the outcome will be, but it is very likely that I will be an inmate at Tutwiler Prison for Women in the near future. I wish there was more info about women's prisons too, I am trying to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I will share this site with my husband when the time comes, right now he doesn't want to focus on prison, he wants to think positive and hope I don't have to go. I hope that if and when I do go, he will find comfort here, and that my kids will too.

As you can see, you have your own thread now..
Welcome to the party.
Hope that your husband has been visiting PTO and this forum along with you.

Have you found that it has helped in some respect? Do you have any questions that are going unanswered?

PmeKay and I,..(life2thesequel) are part of the road to prison ladies auxiliary... We hope that you get diverted, but if you are doing the prep work here,, we'd be delighted to be of whatever assistance we can be. The idea is that you not necessarily have to scour the hillside looking for help. You can send up a flare (PM) anytime to either of us and we'll not let that question go unsanswered.

Some folks have a bit more time to find out what they have questions about... For other folks, facing trial or sentencing,.. time is of the esssence.

That's what the Road to Prison ladies auxiliary is for.
Welcome.

Welcome Carol and I'm glad you found the forum! I hope if you do have to go to prison, you'll be sure to have your husband sign up here. And if you go, be sure to have him let people know here what your address is so that people can write to you and continue support while you're in.

Hugs!

Thanks life2, for starting this as a new thread. Yes, PTO has been tremendously helpful so far. One of the PTO members in the Alabama forum has a wife at Tutwiler, and she is willing to correspond with me and tell me how things are in there. It will be good to find out basic things like how does the phone system work, visitation, what if anything I can bring with me, etc. I had a lot of questions for her, and am looking forward to her letter. It will be good to have first hand knowledge of the institution where I will be incarcerated.
I also think that PTO will be a godsend for my family. I'm sure my husband will find support here, as well as my children. I have two grown sons, 23, and 21, and one daughter, 16. I hope all of them will use PTO for support and encouragement.
I guess a lot of what I would like to know is sort of intangible. Like, what is it really like to be locked up? How do you cope? Questions maybe no one can answer.
