Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this and it's good to know that I'm not alone in this!!!!! I've read many of the threads on here. Well I was wondering if anyone knows how long the processing at Kilby takes. Reason I ask this is because my fiance has been there going on a month and two weeks now. He's suppose to be going to St. Clair but has not left yet. Any help would be be thankful:)

Hi there and welcome to PTO and especially the Alabama forum family!! :)

Kilby - it varies. Some may only be there for a month, some might be as long as three months. Right now the fact that the system statewide is so overcrowded probably has a lot to do with how long men are staying there. Hope it won't be too much longer for y'all, I know it's frustrating - hang in there! :)

WELCOME, hate to hear he's stuck at kilby, as Lysbeth said, i'm sure it just the overcrowding issue forcing them into this "hold" thing there in.

When they get to Kilby, they have to stay a mandatory 30 days, the hold after that is strictly due to overcrowding. The overcrowding is slowly but surely being resolved though, they are sending a lot of inmates to Louisiana.

My son was send to Kilby around the 1st of Dec 2005 and went to St.Clair on Jan 3. We didn't know for a week were he was send to for he was to be in TC program
and St.Clair and Ventress are the only 2 that offer the TC program. As it turn there
was not enough time for him for him to do the TC program for his EOS is March 13,2007 so he was put in a 6 month program. He has a parole hearing on April 4 and of course I am hoping for parole. I have found St.Clair to be clean and the
guards have been nice. Just follow the rules and everything will be ok. God Bless
you and your love one.......Mother1952..........
