I'm just wondering something... can you be denied visits because you don't have a car registered in your name or if you don't have a vehicle at all????

The reason I ask is because I sent in visiting forms and my friend was told I need to redo it... mainly because I didn't list vehicle information... At the time I filled them out I didn't have a car.... I was wating on my financing to go through... Now I do have a car but it's new so there's no tag... I can't get the tag yet... lack of money:( I'm just not sure what to do!!!

I can't think of any other reason they wouldn't allow me to visit... I've been approved before to see him... at a different facility... even without a vehicle registered in my name... So now i feel like maybe they're bulls***ing around:blah:

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether or not they can deny me because of car information? I realize it's the DOC and they can do as they please but I feel like there has to be something I can do.

Sorry that you are going through this! {{HUGS}} I would call visitation and ask questions, that the only true way you are going to find out! I dont see where they couldnt let you visit because of that.. Who are they to say you HAVE to have a car? I would call.... Good luck~!

Truthfully they don't have to give you a reason for not allowing you to visit. They say visiting is not a right. Some of the facilities don't allow someone to be dropped off to visit so that is something they could have in mind

I called down there and left a message... it seems no body there answers a phone:) So for now I guess I'll keep waiting!!! I did get copies of all my car paperwork so if they want to see it I'm prepared. So I have proof I have a car now... my only issue is the tag:(It just seems like since he got moved things have gotten so difficult and I'm trying my best here!! I just think they should be able to get the process going... it'll take 4-6 weeks to be approved by then I'd have my tag and I should be able to give them that info. It's really not as hard as they have to make it...

You'd be surprised some of the crap they come up with to deny visits.
Trust me I've had some doozies (sp?) pulled on me.
I'm curious what facility you're dealing with and if it's the same one that put me through sheer hell!
If it is I might be able to steer you in the right direction. Pm me if you'd like.
I wish you luck-- I know how it feels!
Stand strong and don't let them get you down-- then they win!
Best of luck!

Ya girl, trust me they talk this big talk in the doc guidelines about how they encourage visitation , balh blah blah but in reality most facilities Ive heard of and from what Ive experienced really try anything they can to prevent it. Hmmm and we wonder why odoc is overcrowded??? Well maybe if they wouldnt try and prevent the inmate from maintaining relationships with their families and loved ones they would get out of prison and be able to have stable family and relationships to keep them from going back???just my two cents....

The facility is Jim E. Hamilton in Hodgen... This is the first time I've had to deal with any facility questioning anything. Before I filled out the paper sent it in and was visiting a month later. It's been almost two weeks since I left my first message with his case worker but still haven't heard back yet:( I don't think I would be so upset if I hadn't already made plans to visit on his birthday and now I don't think they will approve me in time!! I guess I continue waiting...

I know this is an old thread but Just curious as if anyone had ever heard of being denied visits because of no car?

I don't have a car and do not have a problem .
