View Full Version : Visiting at PVSP...
luckyme1526 03-06-2006, 11:38 PM Hi Everyone,
What do you think about the visiting in PVSP?
Personally, I've only visited at Donovan here in San Diego and in PVSP, I visited yard 5 in Donovan, the minimum security yard, so it was a very calm yard and there was hardly any people there visiting, but that was back in 2001.
I actually like visiting at PVSP, the processing is faster, and I like the fact that they are more relaxed on what you wair for the visit. Also I like that you be more affectionate! lol :o
The only thing that I don't like too much is that the food in the vending machines kind of sucks! And sometimes it's a lil bad, but oh well, I guess you can't have everything huh? What do you all think?

Cheetoes1 03-07-2006, 11:17 PM Lets see, I have been to CCI, CTF,CMC,Delano,New Folsom, Hell ( Lancaster) And by far PVSP has the best visiting.
As for the food, my husband had a Orange for the first time in 6 years!! Can I say more?

qwerty 03-08-2006, 02:49 AM I visited Delano and Lancaster... PV wins by a mile. The food has been a little duller lately, but on good days, it's good! We love the real mexicano tacos, pozole and avocados :D And Ben and Jerry's even if it costs an arm and a leg...
But the main thing I like is not having to sit at rigid attention in those shorty-a** tables like kindergarten (Lancaster, I mean...). I like that he can walk with me to the vending machine and microwave, heck that we can walk together anywhere.
Mine is level 4 and Close A, so at other places it was just awful -- he had to face front at all times, no walking at all, no patio, no nothing...
Cheetoes LOL mine went crazy for a lemon!!
Rebeca -- It's funny --- way back when I met my guy in county he said he hoped to go to PV cause they let you hug and kiss more... I barely knew him then and sure as heck never thought I'd be the one doing the hugging!!
BEE1227 03-13-2006, 11:18 AM My husband is going to do 3yrs in plesant valley or corcoranI'm not sure i would like to know what to wear also i have a quick doubt he is in reception at lancaster i send the visiting application to the visiting center he said not to send it to him. It's been over a month that i send it should i be worry? I'm so confuss this is the first time he goes to State Prison there for we have no clue of what to expect can someone help?
qwerty 03-13-2006, 06:06 PM HI BEE!! Welcome!
Most people send the visiting forms back to the inmate, but I sent mine straight to the visiting office at Delano and I think it went through faster that way. it usually takes at least a month, but often longer.
They tell you not to call the office to ask if it's ready, but I did anyway. I told them I was on the road (true) and I couldn't get my guy's mail so could they please tell me if I was approved... they looked it up and said I was.
As far as what to wear, the dress code is stricter at Lancaster that at Pleasant Valley. There's a thread at the top of this forum (Pleasant Valley) with a lot of good info on visiting, but if you need more answers, ask away!
lola222 05-02-2006, 03:10 AM i got approved for visiting... now if anyone knows... is it contact visits.. he told me it wasnt going to be since he is concidered a northerner and he would have to drop out. he said he should be moving soon. so how long does that take to get transfered and also when and how do i make an appt. to see him.

Can I take it that you got approved for visiting but he's not at PVSP yet?
If no one has told you different I would think it is regular visiting. That means you call in Mon-Wed between 11am-1pm and try to get an appointment time. The number is 559-935-3780. Be aware that if you call in, the appointment would be for 2 weekends away. You can visit any weekend without an appointment but you get in after 10am. To do that, get there early to receive a number. After all of the appointment times (8:30 -10am) have been processed then they will start calling numbers. You can either stay in line and chat with others, go to the "Friends Outside" trailer, or go into Coalinga for breakfast. If he got sentence to more than 20 years then you have to plan around "count". If you get in before 10:45am no problem. If you get processed after, no expect to see him before 12:30pm. (It is because of something called close-A custody).
The other suggestion would be to call the prison and talk to his counselor. 559-935-4900. Press "0". Tell the operator that you need to talk to records. Make sure you know his full name and CDCr number. Records will tell you his correct mailing address and his couselor's name. Then ask to transfer to visiting, ext. 5708 or 5712. Ask all the questions you need about visiting. I haven't had any problems with anyone. They are all quite friendly and helpful. -C
lola222 05-05-2006, 02:55 AM no.. hes been in pleasant valley 2 or so months now.. but he said they may move him to salinas?.. i think that was the one.. so can i go to see him at 10 if it isnt contact visits? im almost positive it isnt contact.. but do the same rules apply? anyhow.. thank you for the resonse.. it was appreciated.
Cheetoes1 05-05-2006, 10:10 PM If you have non contact visits, you need to make an appointment. Your best bet is to call the prison and talk to someone in visiting and find out if your loved one has contact or non contact visits before you drive down for a visit.

qwerty 05-07-2006, 12:27 AM lola, I agree with the others, but if it's non-contact (ad seg), the number is different from the regular visiting appointment number: it's 559 935-4900, then hit 1, then ext. 5708. The regular appointment number is only Mon-Wed, but as I recall, this one is any weekday. Been there, done that, my guy was in ad seg at PV last year and all visits were 1 hour behind glass.
Being active northerner or drop-out doesn't matter, both can have contact visits, they'll just be housed in different yards.
BEE1227 05-12-2006, 11:08 PM I am currently trying to get approve to go see my husband at PVSP but i am currently on summary probation my application has been disapprove they are asking for a minute order i send that in today does anyone know any info on wether ill get approve or disapprove i am frustrated i need to see my baby!!!! can someone help??????
BEE1227 05-12-2006, 11:12 PM by the way i want to say thank you to all of you that have answer my questions in the past i was very short in time therefor i hadn't been online for a while but THANK YOU very much everyone!!!!
Cheetoes1 05-13-2006, 08:39 PM You should get approved once you send in the Minute Order. But, every prison is different :( What the prison needs, is to see that you are not on formal probation.
Did you send the Minute Order already? If you have not, send a copy of the Order via certified mail w/ a return receipt. Prisons like to lose paper work!! :(
