My husband got transferred about one month ago as a 1c. So, since he was recently transferred, when he goes up for his class, if he gets 1B can he automatically get a furlough or does he have to be at that unit for 6 mos. or what? Can someone tell me the steps he will have to take, please!! I have no idea how all this works!

Are the rules for a furlough different if he were to get transferred to a work release program or 309/work program?

No, my fiance had to wait a year after becoming a 1B to get his furlough even though he was a 309 for the majority of that year.

Hi, My husband is at a work release and he has to have a free world job for 90 days then he is eligible to get a 31 hour furlough. With that being said, he went to the work release facility in January(they have to do 30 days regional maintanence before they are eliglible for free world jobs) and he still doesn't have a job yet, but was recommeded for one. Hope this helps...And things may be different at other work release locations...

My understanding and I ask my guy about someone else asking a few days back about furloughs and he said you have to be in a unit for a certain amount of time before you can get furloughs,he said a year.My guy has been getting his for years now, before we even got together so I was not around for that process. So I personally don't know much but I am always asking him questions.Best of luck to you guys in getting them. :) Kitty

I have a question about furloughs. My fiancee's mother was told by someone that they are usually denied the first one or two times. Do any of you know why or if this is true? My Baby still has about nine months before he is eligible but, I want to find out everything I can on furloughs. Thanks!
