My brother is located in Susanville in section C.C.C. i guess, or at-least that is what was posted in the letter. I have no idea what to send him and how to send it.
1) I sent him a personal check and he said that was wrong
2) I sent him some stamps, but don't know if they are allowed
3) I sent him some plane white paper to draw on;10 pieces, don't know if he got it
4) I sent him some individual writting legal yellow paper don't know if that was right, I needed some so i sent him about 10 pieces
5) I sent him some stickers, don't know if allowed
6) He wanted me to send color paper, I don't know if I can
Can someone please let me know what Im allowed to send
Thanks
Ma
LeBeau 03-06-2006, 08:49 AM Money must be sent in the form of a money order.
The Stamps will get to him.
Stickers are not allowed
Paper, both for letters and for drawing, must be purchased at the canteen or sent as part of a quarterly package.
Here http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1688451&postcount=6 is a more complete list and for other details about the facility, check out the CCC guide

And Welcome to PTO:D
William'sBaby 03-06-2006, 11:27 AM Looks like LeBeau has everything covered! :D Also, you should purchase your money order from the U.S. Postal Sevice (your local post office). Most prisons ONLY accept this kind of money order. Just go up to the same counter that you would if you were sending a package, and ask to purchase a money order. They are very cheap too.
And, here is another list of items you CANNOT send to CCC (http://prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185429)

Eowyn 03-06-2006, 11:05 PM FYI, you can send a check instead of money order (for those of us who have trouble getting to PO), however, takes close to a month for it to be credited to his account.
(AT CCC, Jamestown, Mulecreek - don't know for SURE about other facilities)
LeBeau 03-07-2006, 07:12 AM I know HDSP is ending the policy of accepting personal checks, because they create a great deal of trouble.
I predict that soon ALL facilities will adopt this policy.
Therefore, my official position is that it's best to send only Money orders from the USPS, or in an emergency, to use Western Union.
(In this matter, I am actually very sympathetic to the facility's view...if they deposit the money to the books right away, they run the risk that it bounces and then they have to jump through hoops to take it back off the books, or if it's already been spent, they must try to collect from the writer of the check... and it HAS happened that people have send stolen checks {how dumb is that?}....waiting for it to clear means unpleasant calls and letters inquiring as to where the money is....much simpler to require PMO)
BlessedLady35 03-11-2006, 07:09 PM My husband is a situation at CCC as to where he can not purchase anything from the canteen and can not receive quarterly packages right now. Do you think they will let him have paper and envelopes if I send just a few at a time???? If not, does anyone know anyother way he can get writing supplies??thanks...ladies
LeBeau 03-11-2006, 08:05 PM Paper and envelopes are not accepted at CCC, just stamps... I will ring their mailroom on Monday to inquire about exceptions.
BlessedLady35 03-11-2006, 08:14 PM Thanks LeBeau......I appreciate your help.....I did not even think about calling the mailroom.
William'sBaby 03-12-2006, 12:10 AM The staff in the mail room at CCC are really nice. I called them when I put together the CCC Guide to find out what could and could not be sent. If you ever have questions regarding mail give them a call.

I sent my man a money order obtained through 7 Eleven and it cleared without problems.
But then again maybe CCC is different from HDSP
