I have a question I don't see an answer too anyplace here. Can I visit more than one inmate at a time? My son has made friends with somebody who rarely gets visits and I wonder if my son could bring him to the visiting room when I go if I get approved and get on that guys approved visit list? Has anyone ever done that? Thanks!

I think you could visit your sons friend but, that would mean you would have to cut your sons visit short. You would have to leave and be processed again. Very rarely do they let 2 inmates sit at the same table. I am guessing but I really think that is the way that it is .

CDC Title 15 Division 3
3170.1. General Visiting Guidelines.

d) Visiting with more than one inmate at the same time, shall require that both inmates are approved to visit in the same visiting room, and that either:

(1) The visitors and inmates are immediate family members; or

(2) The visitor(s) has prior written approval from the institution/facility head or designee.

OK, thanks. It was just a thought since my son now has a friend who doesn't get visits. We would not have minded sharing our time with him so he could get out and see people too but it does not sound like they want that so I will forget about it.

meganyg21, cool info. Is it correct then I don't need visitor approval prior to my visit as long as I show up with the appropriate ID?

Oh no you need to be approved BEFORE you show up to visit. The inmate needs to send you a visiting form and then you will send it in and wait about 6-8weeks to hear back. If you are approved then it is the inmate’s responsibility to notify you and if you are denied then you will be sent a letter from the prison. After you are approved you can just show up on any regular visiting day with proper ID and visit. Always check the visiting hotline at 1-800-374-8474 option 1 for English then 2,2 for CTF Soledad.

Okay I know this has nothing to do with this thread but does anyone know how to get to the prison. Id be taking 101.

if noone has answered your question
if your takin 101 south:
(its pretty easy north or south) its about a hour from the san jose/los gatos area. you take 101 south all the way down until you see the correctional facility exit.
you will see that exit after gonzales which is the city before soledad. once you take the exit you make the first left and cross the freeway bridge and your pretty much there. first prison is ctf (parkin is on the right) and if you want s.v.s.p. you need to go further down, make a right at the end of the road after enterin the prison. follow the road and go over all the speed bumps. (couple miles if that after ctf) and then youll see the s.v.s.p. parkin on the right, which is where the visitors must park toward the bacc.
if your comin from 101 north:
pretty str8 forward too. once you get on 101,
(and you can get it from la area if needed) take 101 all the way up. the correctional facility will be on the right. take the exit and make a right and you can enter the prison grounds.
if you want to sleep outside the night before, its on the 101 south side. so once you make that exit comin from 101 south, you park on the right side before you make a left turn. basically across from the prison grounds and before the short bridge overpass.
hope this helps. let me know if not, Id be glad to help!

I've only been up once and I wanted to confirm that backless shoes are OK and that sleeveless shirts are OK as long as not spaghetti straps, and don't expose breast etc.

Thanks

Neither are ok at SVSP. I'm not sure about CTF. JMK can help you if you visit at CTF. If you are going to SVSP you must have sleeves, not transparent and straps on the back of your shoes. Your safest bet at SVSP is black.

At CTF backless shoes are okay, but they keep saying we won't be able to wear them at some point. So if you wear them you should bring an extra pair just in case. As for sleeveless, I think you technically can, but I'm always too nervous they'll say it's too revealing. My mom has with no problems (at least last summer), but I never took the chance. I would recommend playing it safe and going for short sleeves or cap sleeves instead. Better to be on the safe side, especially since it doesn't normally get super hot there. Have a great visit!

thanks for the replies - I forgot to put CTF. I have this great sweater set that has a well covered sleeveless sweater so I am going to try it - if not I will have other clothes. But I think I will wear it Sunday so I can check out for sure on Sat if others wear and what they are allowing in. I hate to get up to the visiting room and waste time being turned back. So unless I am pretty confident I won't wear it.

thanks again for the info.
