My friend wrote me and stated that he recieved a FI-9 from his parole hearing . He also stated that he has to go to some type of class ( I know he went to jail for a dirty drug test ). I think it is a pre - release class or subtance abuse . How long our these classes ? When they finish are they released ? I think he said he should come home in Jan 04

FI-9 R (Month/Year)--Transfer to a TDCJ rehabilitation program. Release to parole only after program completion and no earlier than nine months from specified date. Such TDCJ program may include the In-Prison Therapeutic Community (IPTC). In no event shall the specified date be set more than three years from the current docket date or the date of the panel decision if the current docket date has passed.

Thanks , That helped . I know this might sound silly but does the 9 month from specified date mean that if he is due to get out in Janurary 04 . Does this mean he has the posibility of staying in jail till Oct 04 ?

My husband is in a theraputic community right now . he went in Dec 2002 and will get out of there Sept 2003 then he will go to a halfway house for a couple of months. hope this helps if you have anymore question feel free to ask.
