View Full Version : Has anyone ever gone on a Carribbean vacation alone?
PowandVonne 03-02-2006, 12:02 PM Has anyone ever gone on a Carribbean vacation alone? I want to go to the Dominican Republic, and my friends are taking too long to make up their minds.
So I may go alone...which is good in a way, because I could use some "me" time.
Anyone ever did this? Did you still have fun by yourself? Did you feel
safe?
Thanks in advance!
iverske9 03-02-2006, 01:00 PM I went to the Dominican but not alone. I have gone on a cruise alone. It is so relaxing and exciting to not have to worry about anyone else. You do need to be outgoing though, becuase they have dinner reservations and alot of times its at a table, etc. If you are interested go to www.vacationoutlet.com (http://www.vacationoutlet.com) and you will get great prices. I stayed at the RIU Merengue and it was gorgeous and top star. Only about $800.00 for all inclusive. Included air, hotel, food and liquor! It was great and had so much to do. Good luck...PM me for more specific questions.
optimistic 03-08-2006, 12:56 PM Girl DO IT!! I have gone to Jamaica ALONE and had the most relaxing and enjoyable time of my life. Just make sure where you go is safe and that you won't have worries there.
But, I recommend everyone who can be their own company take the opportunity to just ENJOY the alone time. You get to decide what you want to do and when. It was just REALLY nice!
****BTW.....your siggy is just too da** cute!!!! Did you get that picture taken professionally? Really really sexy.....you go girl!!!
galgrif 03-29-2006, 10:13 PM It takes a strong person to go it alone! I might try that some day, but not while my sweetie still travels with me! I wish you the best on this and I really hope that you will share your trip with us!
PowandVonne 03-30-2006, 01:12 PM Thanks for the info ladies.
I am still up in the air in regards to where I want to go. I may stay in the states and go to FL or something....
whiskeylullabye 03-30-2006, 01:14 PM Please make sure you are staying somewhere safe before travelling to the DR alone.
MizzCandy 03-30-2006, 01:36 PM Ohhh Vonne, I think that would be exciting! But just as everyone else has said, just stay somewhere safe...what about a Sandles Vacation? You know where they all stay in a resort type setting?

 That's what I was thinking too....a nice resort where I don't have to leave once I get there until its time to go home.
MrsBenji 04-06-2006, 03:37 PM I absolutely LOVE travelling by myself. Even those trips for visits. I love it. I am on my own schedule and if I want to do something cheesy, it isn't a battle and most places, there's enough friendly people around that if you want conversation, you can find it, but you can be left alone too!!
I'm trying to talk myself into blowing a hunk of $$ on a NICE *real* vacation!!! Let me know if you find other places with *deals* too!!!

Nuro's Wife 04-19-2006, 01:48 PM I have never traveled alone either but Vonne I am glad you brought the subject up. I know that I am looking to have some "me" time for my birthday which is in September. Yea that is Hurricane season for most places on the East but maybe I'll head out West or to the Western islands. Hmmm...
Thanks for the reminder!
Rodeo 04-19-2006, 02:21 PM Maybe all us ladies should go together! :D
poni'swoman 04-19-2006, 05:28 PM I have traveled extensively by myself. If I can't find someone up for a trip I go alone. I always have just as much fun. I think when you go with friends you are more isolated. Alone you can meet more people. People that you wouldn't have encountered if you were with other people. Go and have a good time. Yes, I have been all through the Caribbean Islands and never had any problems.
lalabean 04-23-2006, 03:17 PM You should go and share the info with us. Have a great time and enjoy yourself.
HotLatinaMILF4U 04-23-2006, 03:21 PM I love travelling alone, don't get me wrong I love people but on my own terms yanno? I say go for it and have a wonderful time!!!

I have been to jamaica, but not alone. We stayed at a resort....this specific resort had everything. There was no need to leave whatsoever, they had activities throught out the day and night. We left for a day to visit another island, and we regretted it. So as long as you find a nice resort, it probably won't even seem like your on vacation by yourself.
Have fun whatever you decide.
PowandVonne 07-06-2006, 09:54 PM I finally booked a vacation. Not alone though. My best friend, and her mom are coming...so we WILL have fun.
Carribean Cruise!
Leaving San Juan, PR and going to Barbados, Antigua, St Thomas, St Lucia, Dominican Republic...one more place..oh yeah...St Lucia.
Feb 11-18, 2007 My birthday present to myself!
MrsBenji 07-06-2006, 10:02 PM GO GIRL!!!!! YAAAAH VACATION!!!!

Free Fall 07-08-2006, 10:55 AM I've been all over the world on my own and would recommend it. There are times when I have not had a guy in my life or friends are doing other things and I've just taken off. I've also made lasting friend ships with tons of people I have met in different countries while travelling on my own. I'll going on vacation again in the fall on my own and can't wait as it is a place in the Caribbean I have never visited.
ChicosgrrlinCO 08-16-2007, 12:49 PM Back in March 2007, I left the U.S.(about time!:D) for the first time. After spending 4 days at my sister's wedding in Playa Del Carmen south of Cancun, I went solo for 2 days (wish it was longer) to Cozumel Island. Completely safe for a lone female in her 30's to travel there and to even be there at night. Felt safer there than anywhere in the US, that's for sure.
