View Full Version : Please help...I need info on Jamestown!!!
misseslolo 03-02-2006, 12:47 AM Hi,
My husband is being transfered to Jamestown very soon. Can anyone provide information on the visiting process? At Solano, visitors line up on the street at 6:00 in the morning to get a pass by 6:45 even though visiting isn't until 8:00. Can this be done at Jamestown?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you,
Misseslolo

AlsGirlAlways 04-05-2006, 08:59 PM misseslolo - I just got a letter from my man saying that he will be transferring the Jamestown soon as well (he thinks today in fact)! I will share anything I learn about the place.
Stay strong!

Cubana 04-05-2006, 09:30 PM no they wont let you line up on the street. You can get on the grounds at 7:30 am turn in and make a quick right to the parking lot. you can only park on the left side. go to the little house that has the pay phone outside and line up. The CO will buzz someone in one at a time. Give you a slip with a number on it and if he's not in Tuolomine ( spelling) then walk down to the house down the drive way ( friends outside) sign in and wait till 8am. When the phone rings they will call 5 numbers at a time. Dresscode is ENFORCED. when you get to the visiting srgt. they will check you in. there are lockers there right before you check in but no locks so take a change of clothes there are bathrooms too. This way if you have to change you don't have to run the mile back to friends outside and change. Also... unfortunatly in jamestown about 90% of the approved visitors have to get approved again IF they are going to fire camp. some stupid rule they have to mess with us. IF you have the original approval from your man take it. Not all the inmates c-file follows them to jamestown right away. Tell him to request his approved visitors list as soon as he gets there to make sure your on in. If not fill one out. And at Jamestown it normally takes about 2 months to get approved
cookkielugo1 04-07-2006, 02:05 AM MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN THERE FOR A MONTH NOW. HE'S ONLY CALLED NO MORE THAN 3 TIMES. THEY'VE BEEN ON LOCK DOWN AND NOW BACK ON REGULAR SCHEDULE. IF HE IS GOING TO FIRECAMP THEY CALL 100 PEOPLE AT A TIME FOR TRAINING. 3 WK TRAINING. THEN AFTER GRADUATION (IF THEY MAKE IT) THEY ARE SENT TO TRAINING CAMP. TAKES ABOUT 2-3 MONTHS.
cookkielugo1 04-07-2006, 02:10 AM HELLO AGAIN! JUST WONDERING WHAT CITY UR AT IN CALI. I'M IN BELLFLOWER. JUST LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO RIDE WITH. DON'T REALLY WANT TO DRIVE ALONE. FOR WHAT I WAS TOLD IT'S ABOUT A 6-7 HOUR DRIVE. I ALSO TRIED CALLING FOR MORE INFO. BUT ALL U'LL GET IS AN AUTOMATED ANSWER.. CAN'T SPEAK WITH NO ONE. HOPE TO HEAR FROM U.
EvansWifey 04-11-2006, 12:49 AM My husband just got to Jamestown from Tehachapi last week. Does anyone have any info on family visits?
AlsGirlAlways 04-13-2006, 04:11 PM Hey EvansWifey! My man just got to Jamestown from Tehachapi last week!
I sent in another visting approval form because of what Cookie said above. I was surprised about how nice and friendly the staff was when I called the facility. I think our men are in a much better place now.
A family visit would be GREAT! I hope someone has info that can be shared.
Cubana 04-16-2006, 03:46 PM When my husband was at jamestown he got there in November and left in july. Training is only 21 days but there are waiting list for both parts. they will be there longer than 2-3 months. And as far as visiting approvals. SCC wants you to submit the application again EVEN IF YOU WERE APPROVED BEFORE.
When he was there we tried to get our family visit but was told that since they don't know exactly how long they will be there for training that they don't USUALLY sign up guys for family visits if they are going to fire camp. the dates will interfere with training and it will take up a date for the guys that are mainline there and it's not fair to them to fill up the dates just to have them canceled. But you can call the record office ask for his counselor and they will tell you everything you need to know. Or ask to speak to the Family visit co-odinator
EvansWifey 04-17-2006, 12:35 AM Thanks for the info. :)
Chapis 04-18-2006, 02:21 PM I guess we we're lucky, in that my husband was no more than 3 mos. at Jamestown for training and then was placed at fire camp, we had an approved family visit at jamestown but we did not make the date because he was placed at camp before our date. The good thing is that once he was placed we we're approved again with in the month and at fire camp you can get family visits once a month:D
AlsGirlAlways 04-18-2006, 06:19 PM Does anyone have info on sending mail supplies such as paper, envelopes and stamps?
4myhusband 04-19-2006, 12:01 PM You can send any amount of loose leaf paper and the regular envelopes (they must be the ones that have to be licked closed). You can only send $39.00 worth of stamps at a time. Which is 100 stamps. The same also goes for pre-stamped envelopes.
EvansWifey 04-21-2006, 12:45 AM My husband wants me to send him books and a newspaper subscription. Is there a website I can order books from? Also how can I send money? Does it have to be a money order and is there a limit? Any info would be great thanks.
4myhusband 04-21-2006, 12:21 PM I send books through Amazon.com. You can send money orders and I don't think there is a limit. Just make them payable to the inmate with his CDC# on it.
AlsGirlAlways 04-21-2006, 02:27 PM Evans... you might want to check into getting your hubby's quarterly package sent. My honey said that the "new fish" have nothing coming to them until they get settled in. He sent me list of items he wanted in his quarterly package. He sent me the form from Packages R Us (www.packagesrus.com (http://www.packagesrus.com)).
Can the guys get newspapers there?!
Curious... what books did your man ask for. I'm not sure what to send?
EvansWifey 04-23-2006, 11:00 PM My husband said he could subscription to a newspaper. As for books, he will read just about anything. I am going to send him A Million Little Pieces. I read it and loved it, regardless if the man lied a little in the book. I am not sure what else to send. Probably some John Grisham (not sure of spelling on that name.) He likes him. Thanks for info. Oh and he already got a package. He asked us to order it as soon as he got there. Thanks again.
AlsGirlAlways 04-24-2006, 09:15 PM Cool... I'm sure the newspaper is going to be great for them! I'm going to get him a magazine subsciption too. I got the package ordered (they called today to confirm). Hopefully he will receive is quickly. Now I'm getting a book order put together too. Thanks!
