i sent a letter to my wife and inclosed a 4X6 pic that my sister took of me(not a dirty one!) my wife told me that they sent the whole damn letter back! they said the pic was too big! apparently you can't send one bigger than 5x7. do these f****** morons know the damn difference in sizes? in my book, 4x6 is a tad bit smaller than 5x7. i am so damn mad i could f****** spit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :argh :argh :argh

Welcome to the Alabama DOC, George... they're pretty much morons. And I have lots of experience with fun with the mailroom (in fact, my PTO title used to be "prison mailroom scourge"). :)

Here's what I would do - send it again, with a sticky note attached and write in big letters (in red ink preferably) that the pic is a 4x6 and thus is smaller than a 5x7. Bet it gets in then.

P.S. Don't forget to write in big red letters "ATTN TUTWILER MAILROOM" on the sticky...

One thing I do is when I send pics, I send them either in a card or in an envelope alone. That way if it's sent back, then Wayne doesn't miss out on a letter.

I Agree I think that some of them just get their Jollies making our lives miserable. Joe told me today that when they asked my relationship to him and he replied "fiance'" one of the co's snickered and said "she won't be by the time you get out" Joe said he just looked at him and said "Bet me" and walked away. I told Joe that we would send that co an invitation to the wedding. I hate how they let "authority" go straight to their heads, but I guess something has to be up there, nothing else is.

I agree Cheena.... I've had this kind of thing happen several times. Hang in there George and I love Lysbeth's idea! By the way, when a father's day card our oldest son sent to Bill last year was sent back to him as it was too big...our oldest cut the card in half and put it in the same envelope and it got in!! He just told Bill to hold the card together....

My boyfriend told me tonight that his NEWSWEEK was "confiscated" by the mail room because apparently there's a story on prison gangs in it.
They kept the NEWSWEEK. It's not S&M Weekly for God's sake! Yeesh! Now he has to pay to have it sent home or to have it destroyed. Yea, how much do you want to bet that SOMEONE'S reading that damn magazine. How nice of his mom to get a subsription for the guards ya know?

Why not take a ruler and photo copy it on your paper...this is now your stationary. Tape the picture onto your beautifully, homemade stationary and write..."I learned how to measure in elementary school. I see you are having difficulties and so I would like to HELP you. Please feel free to check my work, you can even grade me on a sliding scale....If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to send me your measurings of the accurate picture. I have enclosed a SASE so the burden of return is on me. Again, enjoy the ruler!

Well, possibly. Personally I'd go for the sticky approach... I've had to do that a time or two, stickies and red ink usually do the trick. At least it makes them stop and think rather than just immediately returning whatever to you...

George you are not the only one. I paid Moody Publishers $60.00 for a Ryrie Study Bible, shipped to my son. It was shipped on April 24, 2003, It was received, but no-one has seen it !!!!!!!! If I stay in this crap much longer I will probably lose my Christianity. Naw not really. But sometimes I really do want to say some real bad words, and maybe break a few bones. Huh?::argh

well i got the mail back today, the pictures that were sent back were from my fishing trip. i printed the pics. out on my printer! i don't see why it would hurt for her to have them. they weren't dirty! i could see if the pics were dirty, but damn they weren't!

The thing here in Alabama is dealing with the prison system that no to rules apply. I have sent mike an 8x10.. needless to say it got lost but it finally made it to him. These people really grip my fanny if it was there loved ones doing time along with the rest of us they would ease up a little bit.
