If an inmate is catagorized as E.O.P. is parole different for him? Also, do you have to be an E.O.P. offender to recieve SSI when you get out of prison? I do not know who to ask about this. My husband's counseler is not friendly and I am intimidated by her and cannot get any questions answered. Also, when do the 115's come off? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Getting SSI depends on a lot of different things. If he has no work record and is deemed disabled and unable to work he may qualify for SSI. Also, if you are married and have big assets like a large savings account and a lot of resources like automobiles (or even one that is over the resources limit) he may be rejected. The best thing for him to do when he is released is to go to the Social Services/Human Services office and apply for Medi-Cal or County Medical Services. He can also apply for Food Stamps at that time and if your county has it, General Assistance - which is a loan program that gives them about $200 a month for a few months. When a client applies for General Assistance (some counties call it General Relief) they mandatorily have to apply for SSI. Talk to your Social Security office about that, they should be able to walk him through it. If he has a work history, he can apply for Social Security Disability and have that until it runs out.
Hope this helps.
