Myiow removed as Kahnawake Chief

Keith Myiow has been removed as a Chief in the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake by an 8-3 non-confidence vote of his peers.
According to Grand Chief Mike Delisle, the decision was the result of the culmination of several incidents, "including the removal of confidential documents from Council chambers, and the misrepresentation of the MCK in a recent incident regarding the parole of a Kahnawake man."
The latter is Gerald Jacobs, who had served 12 years in prison for the 1994 murder in Kahnawake of a woman from Dorval. Myiow is accused of having acted against the wishes of Council by writing conditions that Corrections Canada is imposing on Jacobs who is being granted day parole.
