Hi Rach
Glad you had a good time over there in Livingston, now it is only 8 days to go, am I excited just a little (understatement!), I will certainly give your love to the polunsky. What was the weather like when you was there? Not sure what to pack, coming from the UK so it is freezing here.

The weather was just starting to warm up BUT for goodness sake take something for warmth in the visiting room.
I don't know whether it was a deliberate ploy to discourage visitors or not, but that room is bitterly cold. Take a cardie/jacket EVERY day and then at least you can take it off if you are too warm.
I actually now have a cough and an outbreak of cold sores as the conditions were so bloody chilly. So you will find the weather gorgeous and the unit totally brass monkeys! Brrrrrrrrr.................
If you need any tips about where to eat etc. there should be some info in this forum or post a new question.
Have a top time!

Hi Rach
Thanks for the info on the weather that helps as I am about to set about packing, over here in the UK it is freezing still (they say spring is here, they are not telling the truth!). I will pack jackets for the visiting room, I was over there in October and found it to be warmer outside than in. I have to eating things sorted as I am staying in a guesthouse about 3 minutes from the polunksy unit, which is for friends visiting guys on the row, only 7 days to go now and counting.....

It is a bit chilly right now but it is going to warm up next week. My best advice is to keep checking weather.com :)

Sorry I don't know anything about the family event, but I will be gone before then back to the UK, I am afraid. But I will try and find out for you, while I am over there and let you all know.
