If you are a victim of his crime the police have a legal obligation in Canada to keep you informed of all of that no matter what your legal relationship is to him now. Otherwise, I noticed you said you 'had' a husband, are you now divorced ? There really is no way to easily get that information if you are no longer a member of his family. Canada has some privacy laws that are quite different then in the United States that protect prisoners rights to some privacy issues.
If you want to pm me and give me some more details I can try to find out approximately when he will be eligible for parole otherwise I cant really help you much more that what Ive already said with what you have provided.
Best of luck.

Also I think if you are a parent or a guardian of a victim who is a minor and relating to his crime you can petition for this information too.

There is a program which victims can be a part of in order to gain this information. Hoever this is what the Corrections Canada website stated baout victims and releasinginformation, so Witchlin is right they do need to disclose at least the following to you. I think be applying to this Victim release Info program you may have access to more information. I do know of people who are informed of all eharings whether they be parole, day parole, T.A.'s etc. They also get updates every few months whether anything changed or not.

10. Sections 26 and 142 of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act permit the release of information about offenders to victims of crime in the following manner:

Information that shall be disclosed, upon request, includes:

the offender's name;
the offence of which the offender was convicted;
the court of conviction;
the sentence commencement and length;
the eligibility dates and review dates in respect of temporary absences or parole.
Here is the link with this info so you can read the whole Act:

Hope this helps you!

Here is a thread that gives you a good idea when someone can be released (depending on their behavour and parole decisions of course) but it gives you a rough idea.
