Lets use this thread to post issues that are going on at our Soledad prisons...

Jaimee you heard that they are going to be letting 35 and over out pretty soon?

Shawnie you received a memo from you boyfriend saying that they were on lockdown because of threats to assault staff? Do you know if that is only for A yard or is that both A and B?

My boyfriend doesn’t say a whole lot but he did say that maybe they will be getting visits back in about two weeks  Sound nice...lol

Yep, he said that he heard that they'll be letting 35+ out first and then the rest of them. They are hoping by the end of the month. He said he'd call the very second he hits the yard when they get off lockdown. My husband is 39, so, if your guys are still youngsters, whatever I hear from him, I'll post! LOL! You know, my husband's birthday was the 7th...sucks that he spent it that way.

The last time I was there was Christmas and I have been really having a tough time with this particular lockdown, I don't know why! My gut is telling me to get a weekend off SOON and go up there! EVERYDAY since the 7th I wait to hear SOMETHING!

Yes, in the memo that is for both the A yard and B yard. I would post the memo if I knew how. If anyone know how and can tell me how I will do it, its about a full page memo, to the staff and inmates at CTf.

Saturday night 2/25/06, One hispanic short timer with a POTENTIAL INS hold from Kings County took a stroll over the fence. He has yet to be found.

Saturday night 2/25/06 at SVSP, One Hispanic short timer with a POTENTIAL INS hold from Kings County took a stroll over the fence. During the 2115 count officer noticed he was gone. Officers spent all of first watch looking for the walker, but have yet to find him. Visiting was delayed for CTF and I believe I heard E yard was canceled for SVSP.

AAARRRGGHH! Thanks, Megan! It truly IS a Monday morning!

OK, I have a feeling that Southerners are still on lockdown because everyone else is getting phone calls and I am not! Dangit!

meganyg21
02-27-2006, 10:56 AM
Well B-yard no one is programming so no phone calls for me either. They just let Northerners and others get visits. On A-yard I guess Fremont and North Dorm are having yard and visits all races but lasen and Rainer (not sure on spelling) are locked down for southerners and Mexican nationals and whites. So things are crazy right now. If it were me as soon as they come off lockdown I would come and visit because I think it will be quick before they are back down.

SVSP hasn't said anything about a lockdown so it should be good. And there was nothign on the 1-800 recording either. I mean they were letting all yards get visits on Sunday, which is new, because last time there was a prison pole vault competition, they went on lockdown. All I want to know is when can they start to program again?

Hi Lil Lee! I just wanted to say that I am so happy to hear you got approved:thumbsup: . On the other hand about the lockdown…. truthfully the guys never know how long the lockdown will last, it is all just rumors. I hope it is over soon for you maybe a couple months like last time. Good thing is once they are off lockdown you can go and see your brother:D .

The visiting hot line (1-800-374-8474) for CTF-Soledad has been updated.

Central and South normal visiting

North
A Yard normal visiting
B Yard NO VISITS for blacks, southerns, or whites.

If you are traveling from the South be sure to check the road conditions. The 58 is closed from Mojave to Bakersfield. The Grapevine is open, however the CHP has been escorting at times and it is predicted to be closed should any more snow fall which is expected. That leaves the 101.

I had called the prison on Friday because I didnt get a phone call like I should have and my boyfriend is in Fremont dorm on A yard, and at that time I was told that lockdown wasnt in effect, but they were to be on their bunks because searches were being conducted. Perhaps items that werent allowed were found and that put them on lockdown. I still dont get to visit but I do get phone calls and I hope this lockdown is over really quick for their sakes and ours.

meganyg21
03-20-2006, 10:40 AM
Shawnie if the officers are conducting searches the whole yard will be put on “first watch status” aka lockdown. Sometimes if they are searching A yard they will but B yard on first watch status also so A yard can barrow B yard officers to help conduct the searches. That also would happen if they were searching B yard they would put A yard on first watch status. When they conduct searches they remove the inmates from the dorm, strip search them on the yard then they wait in the chow hall until the officers are done. They do searches for lots of different reasons…threats on staff, weapons found on the yard, or when they notice that the inmates are stalking up on canteen because when that happens usually the inmates are preparing for long lockdown, which in the officers eyes means riot, incident on the yard, ect.

You look really young from your picture. How long did you do? So if I am to presume that you were in prison at one time, did you have to go through the appeal process to be approved for visiting? If so how long was the total time it took do get approved for visiting from the day you sent in your application? I am going to have a difficult time also when I end up re-applying again. I currently have come to the end of the line as far as my court problem goes. I have to make a choice now. I either go and self surrender myself to Elmwood the county jail in San Jose, and with good time do 90 days straight, or try to get in the PSP program where you stay out of jail, and go work for the jail 8 hrs a day 5 days a week, and take the hourly pay of $7.50 and pay it to them, and since with PSP no good time is allowed and weekends dont count i wouldnt be done till the beginning of November, and then I can apply for visiting, and I probably wouldnt get approved until Jan 2007. I wouldnt by that time have seen my boyfriend for a little over a year. I havent seen him since Nov last year. I cant handle doing 1 hour, even 10 minutes jail time, I literally come emotionally unglued.

Does anyone have any idea how long the lockdown might last for the Northern Hispanics on A yard at CTF? I have decided to "man up" and do straight time instead of a program so I will be done faster. I will be locked up for about 90 days. I am going to try to save my apt, by trying to come up with the money to pay my rent for 3 months in advance, my daughter is going to move in and I will have paid off the utilities to a zero balance owed. She agreed to pay the utilities since she will be staying here. I am also going to try to come up with money to have so when my boyfriend sends his form for his quarterly pkg my daughter will have my money to order it for him. There isnt a warrent for me to turn my self in yet, I think I can stretch it out for 2-3 weeks. I need to hear from him on the phone, because I cant visit yet, thats why I hope to god this lockdown gets over real quick. I could really use everyone prayers to help me with my decision to walk into jail and tell them I'm here to stay for awhile, thats going to be really hard for me to do. Also, please pray that I can stay focused to come up with that amount of money, I need in order to have my daughter be able to hold the fort down while I'm gone. I'm so glad that I feel comfortable enough with all of you that I can ask for your prayers, thank you for being here for me when I need it the most.

It seemed to me that the incident that happened on A-yard with the Northerners was within that group. Usually if the incident is not racially motivated then they should be up I would say in less than a month. The lockdown is so that staff can conduct inmate interviews to see what happened and what is going to happen.

Hello...

My son was moved from Wasco to Soledad around a month or so ago...
I guess Soledad was on lockdown when he arrived. I've gotten letters and he states he doesn't know when visitation will be allowed.
I live in Texas and I"m wondering how on earth a person visits when lockdowns are prevalent and at the drop of a hat. I'm not familiar with the prison system at all.
He told me since they were on lockdown when he arrived he wasn't allowed to go to the canteen to get anything, such as soap, etc. A guy in the cell next to him has given him soap, toothpaste, etc.

I don't quite understand how this works....

Can someone please help me out?

meganyg21
03-27-2006, 05:57 PM
Well you can never tell when the prison will be going on lockdown and in the same case when they will be coming off of lockdown. If the inmate is on lockdown he is not allowed to go to canteen or receive packages. Most of the time like you said a cellie or neighbor will help them out with the necessities. The lockdown will continue as long as there is a “green light” to attack the opposite race or group. Until they confirm that the races have reached and agreement then it will continue. I can tell you how the last lockdown went on B-yard very similar situation…

Lockdown continued as long as the “green light” was in effect
When the effected groups were ready to talk “Peacekeepers” from each group met with staff present in the middle of the yard and they reached and agreement.
With the agreement to take the “green light” off, escorting of inmates was done in groups with equal numbers…example two southerners, two whites and two blacks. Still in full restraints
Since that went good escorting was done without restraints
Since that went good packages were released
Then the yard was released for 35 years and older still no visits (the warden will not have the testing grounds for all of this be in visiting)
Then with in a short amount of time the yard was full program and visits were back.
Full privileges phones, visits, packages and canteen
And then within two months another riot.

any word on A yard with the Northern Hispanics getting off lockdown? I cant stand it anymore!!! I need my phone calls.

meganyg21
03-28-2006, 09:42 AM
If the incident was between the northerners themselves then I would say with in the month, but with the Southerners being lockdown it looks like the incident might have been between those two groups. If that was the case then it is a different situation then the Northerners handling some internal business.
When any group does “house cleaning” the prison knows that they can lockdown the group and release them the next day and the group will program, no problems. Then only thing is if the warden were to let them off the next day it would be “a slap on the wrist”, and make it look like a group can commit and assault with in their own and be off the next day with no consequences.
So I am not sure what to tell you all I can go off of is past incidents that have happen at CTF North. I hope you get a phone call soon.

My mom got a letter from my brother today saying that while still locked down, he has started going to work again. Plus, the best part, they FINALLY gave him his package which has been sitting there since right when the lockdown started. He's so happy!

His letter said that on B-yard they just started letting whites and southerners outside on monday/wednesday/friday and blacks and northerners on tues/thursday. so hopefully that means people will be getting phone calls soon, too. I don't know if this impacts everyone on b-yard or just critical workers, but it's definitely a sign in the right direction. We'll take what we can get!

Yes, the 705 PO box is for North. The number part is his building--Shasta building, A side (each building has an A and a B side, I believe), and the number is his actual cell. The name of the building is what tells you whether it's A or B yard on North, which is important to know when people are locked down--Shasta building is on B-yard. So that means he's North B-yard.

As you can probably tell from this thread, most of B-yard is currently locked down.

XW207 = X-wing cell 207 (second tier) that is not a dorm that is a wing off of the central corridor and that is in Central Facility. I would call visiting at the prison and say that you need to know what facility your son is at for when you visit. Remember in X-wing they have no phone calls. In fact there are no dorms at central besides East dorm.

I have a question. I know my brother is in North because it has P.O. Box 705 on his letters but whats the WA/210 part I'm guessing that the 210 is his cell but whats the WA? and is it A or B???

meganyg21
03-31-2006, 08:59 PM
"W" stands for Whitney Hall. “A” or “B” stands for A-side or B-side of the hall. Then you have the cell, cells in the 100's are on the first tier or ground level, cells in the 200's are on the second tier, and cells in the 300's are on the third tier. Shasta Hall, Whitney Hall, and Toro Dorm are on B-yard. Lassen Hall, Rainier (sp?) Hall and Fremont Dorm are on A-yard.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A California state prison is locked down after an inmate took a female staff member hostage Saturday morning. Officials at California State Prison, Sacramento are negotiating with the inmate, who took the woman hostage around 7 a.m. A prison spokeswoman said the hostage has not been harmed. The incident occurred in the C Facility #1 dining room. Initial reports indicate that the inmate took the officer hostage utilizing an inmate-manufactured stabbing instrument. Officials said it appeared to be made of metal and was about six inches long. The area has been secured and contact with the inmate has been made. The institution is on full lockdown and a State of Emergency has been initiated. All inmates have been recalled to their cells and have been accounted for. The Emergency Operations Plan has been activated, and the acting warden, James Walker, has reported to the institution as the emergency commander. The Crisis Response Team has been activated and is currently involved with the situation.

On Monday night, at approximately 2030 hours a Code 3 was called on the "A" yard at North Facility! An officer was puched in the face after pulling over a southerner, after the code was called, I heard a Lt. was possibly slashed, a Sergeant and one more Officer were hurt when this inmate provoked other southerners into aiding in on his attack on staff!
