Hello everyone,
My name is Jennifer. I am a graduate student at John Jay college of Criminal Justice. I am currently working on my master's thesis during my last semester at school. The reason I am posting on this website is because I am very interested in prisoner reentry and I especially have a fond interest in the war on drugs and how it seems to be putting more and more people behind bars each year. In fact, my master's thesis focuses a lot on drug offenders and the barriers/roadblocks to reentry that formerly incarcerated drug offenders encounter upon release from prison. Many state policies block these types of offenders from accessing public housing, student loans to further education, and getting a driver's license in order to be able to get to and from a job, which is a very important factor to reentry. I am adminstering a questionnaire to individuals in New York and individuals from New Jersey to see if state policy has a dramatic affect on the successful reentry of individuals from their respective states. I was hoping that I would be able to find some agencies that would be wiling to help me out in accessing a sample from New Jersey. I only need eight more people and I am willing to pay 15 dollars each. I do have time contraistns, so I was looking for this to happen by the end of February. Aside from this, I am glad that I found this website, although I am from New York, I believe this is a great idea to get people together on these important issues. If anyone has any contacts to any agencies and could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Jennifer.
