View Full Version : Cheapest, Safest Way from Manhattan to Green Haven CF??
friendofj 02-20-2006, 10:06 PM Hi, I want to make a visit to Green Haven CF to visit my friend. I'm in the city... I've read about van services... Has anyone taken the train who could share their experience with me? Any suggestions/ advice is appreciated.
Thank you !!:twocents::)
Hale2daqueen 02-20-2006, 10:49 PM Hi Friend of J,
The van services isn't that bad. When my Husband was in that Hub, i use to talk Rosie van service. She is cool.
LilBabyL 02-23-2006, 04:08 PM Costwise is would be better to take Rosie's Van Service or post in the Share-a-Ride section. You might find someone in the city who can drive you up. It's about an hour ride up from Manhattan.
If you visit on weekends, they go alternating weekends according to the inmate's last name...A thru L and M thru Z. Weekdays are all inmate visits.
honnies131 03-08-2006, 01:17 AM C.J VAN SERVICE IS CHEAPER THEN ROSIES VAN SERVICE IF YOU MAKE YOUR APPIONTMENT ON LINE IT'S 35$ IF YOU CALL HIM IT'S 40$ HE IS SO RELIEABLE AND GETS YOU THERE AND BACK SAFE AND SOUND AND HE IS A REALLY NICE GUY!
HIS # IS 1877-202-3200 CALL IT IS DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE I HAVE BEEN USING HIM FOR THE PAST 3 YRS. GOOD LUCK!
CURIOUS411 03-14-2006, 05:12 PM is driving your self an option or does everyone have to take a van up?
Manzanita 03-19-2006, 01:25 PM personally - I found Rosie's Van service to be unreliable, when I used to take her, she got me there LATE all the time! I also found myself taking a tour of the city before you even get upstate and you get up at 3am! not worth it for me!
LilBabyL 03-19-2006, 03:11 PM I agree with Jen about Rosie's service. She is a nice woman but she sometimes OVERBOOKS. A friend of mine took her service once and the van was so full, Rosie gave her a CHAIR, yes a small round seat chair, to sit on all the way up from the Bronx. That was the first & last time she took that service. Rosie didn't even bother to charge her HALF even though she wasn't really in a van seat.
She drives up alone now all the time. She told me there is a visitors parking lot there. Try to get there around 6:45 am or 7:00 am to get on line to beat the vans up or else you will be waiting to get processed for over an hour or more. My friend leaves the Bronx close to 9 am and gets there close to 10 am and by then there is no line and she goes straight in the visit.
Manzanita 03-19-2006, 03:34 PM Rosie gave her a CHAIR, yes a small round seat chair, to sit on all the way up from the Bronx.
oh yes! I have seen it too...she was all I knew back in the days, and I liked her as a person, but there is no way I could have visited all these years like that!
I know Pasquale goes to Greenhaven also, I have only taken him for my FRP visits but to another facility, and I know he also packs tightly and drives all over the place, BUT he is more reliable as far as time goes, good luck!
meg11305 04-24-2006, 02:04 PM ( know Pasquale goes to Greenhaven also, ) Ihave my first frp on may11th its a thursday and I need a way to get to green haven aside from cj's vans is there another so i can there?
Manzanita 04-29-2006, 07:18 PM so who are you going with?
Matilhda 05-02-2006, 08:49 PM Hi my guy was in Green Haven for a while. I always took CJs. He was relaible, clean, courteous and not too bad on the pocket. His website is:
http://www.cjexpressny.com/cj/
If my guy hadn't been transfered I would still go with CJ.
In fact I am going to see if he can take me up on the FR where my guy is now.
meg11305 05-07-2006, 06:00 PM I found a way up to green haven it seems to be better then any other service that goes there the woman is so nice and understands she offers way more then any other van or bus that i have ever taken and i have been doing this for 10 years now . but she is one of us she has understanding and is not all about the money. She is more money but you get what you pay for. So far getting there has been the only thing i have not had to worry about but she only goes by refferals
getonthebus 05-16-2007, 08:20 AM The Osborne Association has a great program called get on the bus that provides free transportation for wives, girlfriends and otherwomen visting men in the sullivan and greenhaven.
