Does anyone know how long it takes for our guys in reception to receive mail? I get mail from my Honey in about three days but so far he has not gotten any of the letters that I have sent (it has been about 10 days). I have also sent two US Postal Money Orders as well as self stamped envelopes and paper. Will the money post any faster than they distribute the mail? Poor guy is trading cookies for paper, it breaks my heart.

Call Sgt. Paster in the mail room. Usual turn around time is 10 days, from you to him and back again. Mail room also has an "indigent" package that they give to guys who don't have envelopes, stamps, or paper. You could ask Sgt. Paster to get him some supplies. As for the money orders, NKSP is notoriously slow about their accounting. The money orders are opened and held in an envelope in the mailroom, and, about once a week, they are taken to accounting for posting. If there are any "restitutions" to be made (like court ordered fines) it is best to get as much money on their books while they are in reception because at their "mainline" they will start garnishing any money that they earn (from their job) or any money that is sent in, at the rate of about 55% now, I think.

They're Kinda Slow About Them Getting Mail- Took 15 Days For My Husband To Get Mail From When First Got There (jan 30) I Think It's From The Moving Around At First- Now He Is In A Dorm. The Lady In The Mail Room Said Money Orders Get Posted Right Away You Can Send Envelopes( Big Yellow Ones No Metal) 25 Sheets Of Lined Paper, 20 White Envelopes, 2 Books Of Stamps, 10 Photos 8x10 She Said It Was Best To Get The Money Orders From The Post Office.

Thanks for the info. He should be receiving my mail any day now as I sent my first letter including envelopes and paper on the 10th. As far as "restitution" he was ordered to pay court fees of $200. So if I pay that in full now, will he get all of his money when he goes "mainline"?

hey chicas,
me and my honey found a trick. If you put your letters in a big manila envelope, they get it in about 6 days!!! hope this helps.

That would explain it then. The first mail I sent him was a bunch of letters I had written but did not have his CDC # to mail them, so I sent them all at once in a large manilla envelope. He received that one but nothing else since. So I will take your advice and sent them in manilla envelopes, costs a little bit more but he is definately worth it. Thanks!

Just my $.02.....my boyfriend is in NKSP Reception - since 1-11-06. I get his letters within 1-3 days - very quick. But it seems like it's taking almost 2 weeks sometimes, for him to get my letters. Even the large manilla envelopes that I send him with the paper, stamps and envelopes.....I just wrote him today and asked him to see if he can tell how long it's taking....I date all of my letters so he can see......I even called the mailroom there and they told me that they get their mail within about 2-3 days after it's received in the mailroom....but I think NOT!!!
