Thanks to the imagery of U.S. Satellite mapping & Google Earth (delivering the end results), there is an easy way to see aerial / overhead views of prisons. I am actually looking into what it would cost to purchase usage rights to incorporate some of these with the new site design (informational), but you can visit directly via the links provided in this thread.
These are actually images brought out using Google Maps and then pulling up the images. This is quite limited in compare to using the Google Earth software where you can manipulate the images, but the view is the same. Hopefully it won't cost a lot and we can place the actual images along with annotations of what the different building are on the compounds.
Unfortunately, not all of the prisons will be visible due to satellite coverage. Rural areas are rarely available in detail.
I will add prisons to the master list (in this first post) as I dig them out. Some can actually be quite elusive to find due to address issues.
