It's easy to forget that you and your mate are not of the same race if noone gives you grief about it. Never did I realize that to be more true than the other day when Sebastian's mom (they are black, I am Latina) and I were having a conversation about visiting him asap. I mentioned to her that at the prison where he's been transferred they only let immediate family visit inmates in seg and how he better not be in seg. She looked at me quite earnestly and asked, "How would they know?" LOL I just looked at her until she realized that there are differences between us even if we don't find any need to acknowledge them other than the fact that we respect and embrace the differences and similarities in our backgrounds/cultures...
If only it were always that simple,

AWWWW how sweet of her, and I agree it is so easy to forget, until something of that nature brings it to your attention. Sebastian's Mama sounds like a real sweetie..

She sounds like a real sweet heart! It's a shame that things have fo be that way as it shouldn't matter! Why would he ve in seg anyway just beacuse he got transfered? I think thats terrible. Souldn't you call the warden and get special permission? It would hurt to try in any case! Hoping for the best for you all God Bless You All

There is no reason to believe he is in seg we were just talking about the rules at the facility where he was transferred. We'll be visiting as soon as we hear we can, shoot wild horses won't keep me away...

how sweet lol! i was talking to my friend the other day about this very same thing, and actually it came up for the first time in a while that he's a different race, and i had to actually remember that they (ad seg) would never fall for it lol.

I really don't think about our differences unless someone brings it up. I just see the man I love nothing else. He kids tease me when I get mad cause I tend to have attitude and they say thats the black in me and I tell them no its the temper in me.

It's really neat when stuff like that happens, HotLatina. Years ago I was in a room with most of my co-workers, all black. We're all just BSing -- doing piddly paperwork or pretending to. Then one of the younger ones said to me, "you're the only white in here!" We all had to look around and saw that, yes, it was true. We all looked at him, like, "And???"
Yeah, it's cool.
Sebastian's mom is a winner.
