My brother was there from October to December, 2005 and then he was transferred to TDCJ.

Hi Mary,
Do you have any info about conditions there, visiting or even the phone number? I tried a search on this place but mostly come up with the historic jail and am not sure if I have the right place.
Thanks

Calpurnia --- conditions are excellent ... well ... except that there is no outdoors for them to go to. The food & medical attention is excellent ... my brother gained about 35 lbs while he was there and maintained an excellent mental attitude ... TDCJ on the other hand has about beaten him down. Visitations are frequent but short ... about 30 mins 2 or 3 times a week but they are quite frequently extended by 10-15-20 minutes. Visitations are via phone through a window ... remember to bring some clorox wipes and clean the phone receiver. Information about visitation, etc., can be received by dialing 512-303-1080 which is the Bastrop Sheriff's Dept. Most probably you won't be able to get in touch with them until Monday. The actual facility is located off of I-71 - left on 95 from Houston - right on 95 from Austin. Since I'm new to forum, I don't know anything about private messaging or exchanging telephone numbers ... maybe someone can help us with this? If someone HAS to be incarcerated ... this is the Hyatt of incarceration.

I was in prison with a girl from there she actually was excepted to come back to her county to do her time she could work it off there could not believe it. So they came and picked her up and she went there so they seem to be a pretty good place. She at least got to see her family and was not like being in prison she wrote me. It had to be better than hobby
