There is something positive in every situation you come across! No matter what it is ... the point in case is you finding it!!! Me, being a x-felon I Know prison does have some positive thing's to offer! Its all up to the person to go to them ... seek them out and concur them! In the Ohio prison for Woman, they have all type's of class's and so on ... the bad side is it take's a long time to get into some! So what I did since I wasnt going to be there long is learned on My own! I read books. talked to inamte's who had been in prison longer. It really does help hearing other's story's, trial's and triumph's!

Hi Sassie,
I totally agree with what you said. When I got to the Women's Community Correctional Center, Kailua, Hawaii. I was ready to change. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I requested to go into a program for women who want to change their lives. And God knows I had to change just about everything about me. That program helped me do some good time. Not once did I feel I was doing dead time.
IT'S ALL GOOD!

Hi girl, I have to agree. Going to prison was what I needed to change. I had been to county jails for short times but had to see the real deal of serious time by going to Pelican Bay. I only did about 8 months there because I had time served in county and in a program but it woke me up. While I was in I knew I would never go back. I spent my time reading, going to meetings and stayin away from the games. You only need to know those games if you plan on coming back and spending a lot of time. It turned out to be the best lesson for me. I didn't like it but I needed it. I have been out for over 10 years now. I have a 8 yr old daughter who has never seen daddy drunk or high. She has never seen daddy in a visitation room. Life is still a bitch sometimes, but even on the worst days I can be grateful just to be free.
It's great to hear stories like yours Sassie! It is definitely up to the "inmate" to decide their fate, and the state isn't going to do it for them. (once they are in that is)
It's wonderful to hear that you took control of your situation!
Get out & Stay out- I love your name!!! Woo! Hoo! Again, it is awesome to hear that you got yourself together because of going to prison. You did it yourself, not prison, but if thats what it took, then more power to you!
I hope and pray every day that this is what my boyfriend needed to get himself together too.
