That was a great idea, because Lord knows the weather up there has been kind of odd lately. Now I know to bundle up my daughter and bring a jacket. Thanks for thinking of this.

You know while we were up there this past weekend, both nights when we woke up he mountains were all covered with snow, it was really pretty, but very cold! I'm glad that I brought all my down comforters with me!

I live about and hour north of the prisons and it is sooooo cold. I know that the guys are cold.

Thanks for posting this again for us. I sleep out there so it lets me know how many blankets I need to bring with me. I can't wait until summer time up there and it gets nice and warm!

Oh no problem, the weather today was really nice but it is chilly tonight. The only thing that I hate about Soledad is the wind and the dairy farm…lol. Because it smells like poop and when the wind blows it is pretty bad. So no wind is always a good thing.:thumbsup:

The weather never changes our visits and yes we are inside with exception to the walking we do to/from the processing and then to/from the yard. No umbellas allowed and hats only if attached to your coat.

Hi Megan, I didn't get your message on the weather watch until this morning. OMG we froze our butts off. We had talked to our men on Thursday and it was nice, what the heck happened to the sunshine, because you know we were unprepared and didn't take our jackets. Thank you for keeping us posted..My fault for not checking back before we left.

Yes the weather is crazy! Right now it is sunny but then all of a sudden rain. Maybe next weekend will be better.

Just a note . . . South Facility - on Wednesday and Thurdsay had "fog count" which could impact the processing of visitors but today (Friday) it was normal. Let's hope the fog stays away over the weekend.

I drive with my two young kids. Does it get foggy to the point of a hazardous condition? This past weekend I saw a mild fog when I was getting to King City and Greenfield..Is that as thick as it gets. I'm asking because I've driven in thick fog before on the 58 freeway and it is scary.

Well, when we get in line prior to visiting before 6am it gets kind of cold...The prison is located on the coastal side of California..So it's usually cool in the mornings..and as long as the a/c is working in the visiting rooms, we're usually okay during the day, however when we go home, a different story..it's hotter than heck out there..dry and hot..sometimes windy. To me it's not very predictable..But for our loved ones we do it..

My friend just called & said it was supposed to be 110 degrees today!
He said the building is like a tomb! Sweltering!

And for those of us taking advantage of North's first Friday visit tomorrow, Weather.com is predicting low to mid-60s in the late morning/early afternoon--looks like highs of only about 64 degrees.

While visiting at CTF North Saturday 9/23 there was an hour delay for inmates getting into the visiting room. They called Fog Count at about 9:15 so none of them showed up until 10-10:30. That coupled with early terminations made for a short visit.

That Sucks Harpsie...That Happened A Couple Of Months Back...I Visit South Yard, They Didn't Come Out Until After 11:00...Fortunately For Us South Yard Doesn't Fill Up Like North Yard...Sorry To Hear That...

I just checked Weather.com and it's only showing highs of around 67 degrees tomorrow, and the same lows of 49. It's going to be chilly in the AM, so dress warm! Plus, it's been really foggy the last few days here in the bay area, so I think we should all be prepared for the possibility of fog counts this weekend. But I'm sure hoping not!

Thanks again for the Thursday weather updates MOM! I hope it won't be too cold for us! JMK I know your from NoCal and your use to the cold :eek: better than us SOCAL ladies (I know I have family in Antioch and they think I'm crazy when I visit in my snow suit;) ) How warm was it? It was so cold that I wanted to leave and not wait to see my honey. I felt guilty for thinking that. YEA ITS COLDDDDDDD !!!!!!!!!!

The craziest part is that we were having a heat wave, and then overnight it turned freezing! Last Saturday I was at a bbq and it was sunny and HOT, and then Monday I had to dig out winter clothes to get dressed for work. Now it's been raining, too. The rain is supposed to end today and it's supposed to warm up a bit, but you ladies should still bundle up for the early morning part of your visit. I talked to my brother earlier in the week and he said it's been pretty cold at Soledad in the mornigns. I haven't been to visit in a couple weeks, and won't be going this weekend. Sunday the 12th is my next visit.

I lived in LA for about 6 years, and I remember when I moved back up here in 2001 I was FREEEEEEEZING that first winter. You ladies stay warm!!!

OK Ladies how was the weather last weekend ...all those lucky enough to be there...:D Yes now I'm a Hater:o

I just watched the forecast on the evening news, and they're predicting light rain in the southbay overnight on Wednesday, with a little bit early early Thursday morning. Sounds like it will be a little wet, but not pouring down when we'll all be outside.

Last weekend the weather was nice. A little cold for my first night sleeping in the line. I stood outside the car talking to the General at 4am in sandals, before I froze my azz off. I guess I better take my snow boots this time. I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving, and keep your fingers crossed for me that C yard stays off lockdown.

I think we might be good, and we stayed up talking until 5 in the morning before it got too cold. I can do a little light rain, and if so you can have a clear rain poncho if needed.

Some of you are used to the cold I'm with Kilinus...snowboots!!! but i'm adding snow jacket also...he-he! and my hair get the frizzies in the cold now we add in rain...ARGH ok ok it's light..but still...:eek:

Oh My Gosh....:eek: ..I don't even own a jacket..:eek: .Where is the sunshine anyway??.:mad: .Not really, I've been there when it's cold...it sucks..:D .I used to visit my son there a couple of years ago..months of January, February & March...the chill goes right thru you...my grandma was blowing in the wind....it's craziness out there...

Thats what Liz hates the frizzie lion king hair. She's mixed too, is it a mixed thing? lol regardless of what kind of mixed? My hair is so thin and straight, baby fine, that a little frizz is body to me. Well I hope all you ladies look as beautiful as CDC will allow for your men tomorrow. And I know your men will think so even on your worst hair day. Everyone drive safe, watch out for the fog, and we should be up there about 3am. Same car as last week, white four runner, but clean this time. Liz finally went to the car wash. I just got off the phone with Sonny, and they are still off lockdown. So I guess the odds are good that they will stay that way at least until tomorrow. For those who are not going up tomorrow, enjoy Thanksgiving with your families. Give thanks that even though we go thru hell and broke pocketbooks, we are still able to spend time with our loved ones.

There was a girl that used to visit that had an electric blanket that you plugged into the ciggarette lighter, I am going to call her to find out where she got them so we can get some too. Thank God these new cars have more then one lighter so we can plug in a few of them bad boys because it looks like it is about to really get cold. I already have 2 down comforters what more can I get. And I don't own any layers either.

Okay everyone, I just watched the local news and want to warn you all for COOOOOOOOOOOOOLD tomorrow. The highs are only supposed to be in the low 50s, with overnight lows in the 30s. I know some of you have said you don't own 'layers,' but nothing special is needed--just wear lots of clothes! Like several shirts layered, a sweater, then a sweatshirt, then a jacket, etc. And tights underneath your pants may not be a bad idea for you overnight-in-the-car sleepers. We don't want you getting frostbite before a visit!

I just checked out Amazon.com, and they have 2 different electric blankets for the cigarette lighter. One's 17.99, the other is 24.99.

I visited last weekend in the record breaking low temps, and was shocked to see how many people weren't dressed for it. WEAR JACKETS!!!! And I highly recommend a pair of tights or pantyhose under your pants--it really helps. And if you're not in sheepskin boots like me (my feet were toasty!), double up on your socks. North is letting us take in gloves and hats, so make sure you bring some. Stay warm so you're not an icicle by the time you make it in!!!

And enjoy your visits, of course!

From what I hear we can't wear brown anymore either. :blah: I have my silve lame pants, but I'm saving them for when my friend gets approved and she wears her gold lame pants. Liz has some bright pink ones, complete with a camel toe. We have to find her a long shirt to cover it. :thumbsup: Does anyone know if we can wear that green spray paint in our hair? We wore glitter spray in our hair on New Years and no one said anything. But Salinas has gotten so anal in their restrictions. I have other important issues to challenge this weekend, that I don't want to push them. My bro-in-law just got a 602 regarding our visiting approved and they may not be to happy with us this weekend.
Not to mention my mother-in-law is going to be with us.:o

:cool: Well I came across this thread and I though I couLd be hellpfull to you all that have loved ones in SVSP OR CTF I live abouT 20 min. from Soledad and the weather is quite nice. Its been really sunny but always bring something warm cuz oUr weather is crazy sometimes. I'm actually hoping my bf gets transferred to CTF since its closer to home or SVSP.

Thanks for the local update, 831! Even though I'm not visiting this weekend it's nice to know what our guys (and fellow visitors) will experience. The good thing about Soledad is that it rarely gets too hot in the summer--looks like great weather this weekend! I still always tell people to take a sweater or light jacket, because those mornings can be chilly. Especially at CTF where we have to wait outside for hours!!! Happy visiting everyone!

I heard it's been pretty bad the last few days. We tend to forget cuz the weather has been so nice. But the 46 can be pretty bad with the fog, as well as the 101. And fog count can delay visiting.

Looks nice! We'll hope the "considerable cloudiness" on Saturday doesn't mean fog.

Bundle up guys, it's going to be really cold in the mornings. For those of us at CTF who'll be waiting outside, I strongly recommend wearing tights or long undies under your pants. Two pairs of socks helps, and don't forget a warm jacket and sweater!

Both prisons share the weather thread, since they share the same weather :) . Also, most of CTF is not locked down right now--it's just the whites and northerners on North. All other races on North, and everyone at South and Central, should still have their visits.

The visits are indoors, but you can spend several hours waiting which is outside. There is little shelter, so make sure you dress for the weather. It's raining like crazy right now, with 50+ mph winds!!! I recommend rubber boots, and umbrellas and hooded raincoats are allowed at CTF.

Also, make sure to call the visiting line to ensure he has visits. If you don't have the # it is (800)374-8474. For CTF press 1,2,2. They will say the date at the beginning of the recording so be sure that you are listening to the newest one--it is usually updated Fridays by around 2pm.

This is actually one thing that CTF and SVSP seem to do differently. At SVSP (from what I gather reading what you guys say!), you can usually get non-contact visits during lockdowns. At CTF it's all or nothing. That is, you get contact visits or none at all. The often have regular visiting even when the guys are otherwise locked down...then again sometimes not (like now for white and northerners on north). I'm pretty sure the only non-contact visits are when guys are 1st there being classified, or when they're in adseg for some reason. I would say why in the world do the prisons do it differently, but I know better than that by now:) .
