OUr first visit was contact and it was way different then thevisits now, but it was great nonetheless. I stood there still until he walked over to me and jumped into his arms and wraped my legs around him and kissed him until they told us it was a brief embrace and kiss only. It was magical.

Well ladies, I started a weight loss support thread, but unfortunately a presumably well meaning PTO staffer moved it to the California Bull in Session forum. This is unfortunate, because I think we are all less likely to use it if it's in one of the more 'anonymous' forums--I think there's something about knowing the people reading your posts will see you at visiting that might help with accountability!

I need to find a ride to South Facility at CTF either Sat or Sun. I will split the cost of gas with you. I live in San Jose. The reason they have to be going to the South Dorm is because if Im at South and the person I rode with is in North, and something goes down causing a lockdown early they wont have to try to find me in all the chaos, etc. Please pm me if you can help me out.

If the question about the visit was for me, well then my answer is it went great. The only downer is that my man is starting to try to set me up on a budget, not alloting me things that I like. For instance going to the mall and buying a shirt here and there. Or going to the tanning salon. The kick in the head about the whole thing is, the extra money I will be saving will all go the the enormous amount he expects me to be spending on his packages, and money put into his trust account over there. Other than that I enjoy the hell out of my visits.

No, you are not selfish! You do what you can and if that's not enought for him, then too bad. It cost 2-3 hundred dollars to just visit when coming a long distance, what more can he expect. My b/f hardly gets much from me except my love, support and visits. I send him stamps and envelopes when needed then at Christmas and his b-day I send a little extra something, maybe a small package or money. Usually it's a small package. He doesn't call because I don't have the means right now. I only use my cell phone and we know how that goes. The great part is he doesn't expect a lot from me in regards to finances. His primary concern is that I'm first taken care of. He would go without a visit just to make sure I'm taken care of. Oh, don't get me wrong.....we are both very sad and lonely when we have long periods in-between visits, but that's life. He tells me, "I got myself in here and it's my own falt if I don't have the things I want". That's right! He got himself in this mess and I'm proud of him for wanting to take care of himself as much as he can. So, back to your question, NO you are not selfish for wanting to buy a shirt here and there or go out and have a good time with your friends. You are a free women and you did nothing to have to pay for his life inside. We are paying enough, our visits and our time waiting. If these men can't understand that then they need a reality check. I love my b/f very much and I have stuck by his side since the minute he went in. He supports me in my life decisions and cheers me on. Both my b/f and I are suprised how some men are demanding of their family members, asking for so much......it's just not right. So....go enjoy yourself with the little extra money you have. You deserve it!!!!!

I'm just now getting his contact info after being given ALL the wrong info originally. :eek: However, my best-buddy is at this facility and though I can't/don't want to shoot for visiting myself, I do enjoy road trips. ;) He's in on a violation of which I believe was to be 1 yr. so my count down begins. :rolleyes: Not that I would want to make a trip there EVERY weekend but might be able to assist now and again. Shoot if nothing else I can keep myself occupied by visiting places/areas of personal interest while you visit your inmate.

I want to thank you for your help on how the visits work, you and everyone else that helped (Adrian too!) I found out there was still alot more to learn but it went smoothly thanks to you all. The only bad thing is that the visit I thought would ease me mind (and heart) about missing him only made me miss him more. Then I get a letter from him Sat. telling me the same thing about him. :heart: I wish I could be there every weekend, but we both know that is not going to happen.:(

Ladies, as far as budgeting yourself to help him. you do what is in your heart. If you feel that you are giving him all that he needs then take care of yourself. We need to take care of ourselves as much as they need to be taken care of. Do not allow them to make you feel guilty for doing for yourself, you derserve it. You work hard for what you have and they may not freedom or the greatest food but they are fed, clothed and have a bed to sleep in. Again it is up to you, you know what your man needs better than anyone of us do.

Hello everyone! :) I'm a new member to this site but an old member to the Prison System. Lol. My husband has been doing time for about 5 years or so and I swear, the closer and closer he gets to coming home, the harder and harder it is for me to see him. :( Since neither my husband nor my mom will let my daughter and I travel alone, we average about 2 visits a year! Yeah, I know, it really sucks! So..., is there anyone traveling out of San Diego? My husband is at CTF and of course, I'll fully help out with gas expenses etc.

Yes...and it so embarrassing....I went to one in Fullerton....I didn't want to see anybody I knew....Personally, I think it's another way for the county to make money...they even had my little old lady from Pasadena Grandma do it...she had to get verification from her Dr. that she was unable to attend the class...but they didn't hesitate to make her pay the money..a $30.00 to check to Ralph's Grocery Store, turned into $278.00...alot of stores don't put them thru a second time anymore..Be careful General...

That's obviously more than the cost of sharing gas up from SoCal or a bus ticket, but might be an option for you. It was a lot less money than I thought it would be. I checked flights Friday evening, thinking maybe one of your PTO friends could pick you up from San Jose that night. Don't know if this is a realistic option, but wanted to at least give you the info! Hope everything works out for you.

I think it is 5 people, kids included. Visiting will be normal Sat and Sunday hours, with the same hours on Monday, Christmas Day. I believe they start processing at 7:30. They give out passes at 6:30am. People start lining up outside the prison about midnight. I don't know if it gets crowded on Christmas day, the General will have to answer that. She's the veteran here. It will be the same for New Year's weekend. Welcome to Cyco's place. Meeting these wonderful ladies here at SVSP/CTF has turned a terrible situation into something tolerable, and at times downright fun. I really don't know how I would get through this if it weren't for you ladies. Thank you so much.

yeah, I need the dish on Christmas at CTF. I visited North this time, but he'll be on South before Christmas when I can go back. What's different? I heard the CO's are a lot more strict? And actually the cars start lining up before 8pm, cuz that's when I got there and was still like 10th in line.

As for Christmas visiting, no it was never crowded at SVSP so I assume that it won't be at CTF either. I know whenI went last there was like my family, 2 others and the CO's and that was it. They CO's hung out with us watching sports on TV and we hung out and got our pitures taken in from of the Christmas tree, it was pretty nice.

The service is called VIP Community Transportation, and the # is (323) 864-6136. Don't know if this is the right option for you or not, but might help you out if you don't want to travel alone. Your honey may not want you to, but it all depends on what YOU are comfortable with, right?!?! It's definitely a long drive, but will be well worth it when you guys see each other!

Does anyone know about a van that coordinates carpool from Palm Springs? I was told that there is a guy that does that once a month. My son is in SVSP and I want to see him again in a few months.

Yes, I sure did and have a severe cold now (smile). Bad thing is I started a new position in my company on Monday, came home from a good first day and got sick on Monday night, I've been out sick since Tuesday, so Tuesday, Wednesday and I may go in today but am still unsure. I'm too congested.

Overall I had a great experience with the prison, their staff and the hotel, the drive, etc. Couldn't ask for anything smoother really. Wonderful women on this site gave me great advice, they really did and I'm forever grateful. My Pookie was doing just fine and he was waiting for me to arrive, he wasn't sure if I could make it on such short notice, but I literally just took off on Saturday to drive down, check into the hotel and visit with him on Sunday. It was crowded considering there is a lockdown, but the process went smoothly enough. I didn't do the "line thing" for fear I would be stupid and piss someone off plus it was freezing down there in the early morning, just freezing hence the bad cold came from the change in climate. It took me only 1.5 hours to get there, about 84 miles from my home. The Harvest Valley Inn was very nice, comfortable and the free hotel buffet breakfast was really nice. By the time I got there at 7:15 in the morning and got processed in, I was in his face at 9:20am. So it's a hurry up and wait game with the process. Great visit and can't wait to go back on April 4th.
