Ok, ladies, I need HELP! My Aaron gets out in 4 months and I want to make sure he has a good place to live. I am new to this whole situation and need some help. He will be on Intensive Probation when he gets out and his PO will have to look way into where he stays. Does anyone have any recommendations, info, tips, anything? I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks! :)

You didn't say what city but I know that in Tucson there is an apartment guide that list who they will accept. Check it out, it's free.

If you own a house, then its no problem...
If you rent an apartment, I think you just have to find one that isnt in a 'crime free zone' because those are the ones that wont rent to anybody with a felony record.
You may be able to rent it in just your name and ask for permission for him to stay there temporarily or something.
If your guy is a sex offender, then there are alot more restrictions and I dont really know much about it. :hmm:
Good luck!

You'd have to call the apartment complex and ask. The majority of complexes in Mesa have adopted the 'crime free' stance, but there are still some that havent. Just get a For Rent magazine and look thru there for places you can afford, then ask them if they allow felons to rent there. Good luck. ;)

The parole offices have info at their info desk when you walk in - or posted on the wall - on different places that accept felons - BUT - you need to make sure wherever you are - is approved first - I wouldn't be moving to any place new - without first making sure it will be considered and then approved for him to reside at -
Also- if you are on any housing subsidy - voucher, hud/ etc. you will lose your subsidy payment/voucher if a felon is residing with you -
I would not suggest to anyone - that they use any means except the truth to obtain housing - and it would be very wise of anyone - to ask their landlord for the policy regarding persons on parole living there - and be up front wherever you rent-if you get caught - and your significant other is on parole - they will send him back to prison on a violation - its always better to be honest and up front - considering the consequences that everyone could possibly suffer if you aren't - just my own 2 cents -
Most times prisoners released esp in they are in intensive type release conditions - they will only be approved for release to a halfway house - rarely do they release straight to a family residence - even if they are married - depending of couse, upon the situation - it's different for each inmates situation and past hx- etc. -I would contact the parole office and see if anyone has done a review of the inmates file- if they have any possible housing options, and offer your place if that is what you are wanting to do - to them to use - so they can be on top of it when they do get the file - if they don't have it yet - usually they start the process about 90 days prior to release, but the pre release is started 6 months prior to their release date (anticipated release date) - to determine the status and need for housing and living options prior to getting out -

I certainly hope nobody thought I was suggesting being dishonest to rent an apartment. I simply meant that some apartment complexes will rent to an individual who does not have a record, even with knowledge that their husband or boyfriend who DOES have a record may be there from time to time. Just wanted to clarify that. ;)
