onetime,

i have been looking for the information myself! my guy has said something about 65% time. is that the one you have heard about?

i think there are some bills that are in the legislature about early release and drug education but i don't think they have passed yet.

i called the DOC last year when i heard some rumors about early release and they told me that they were JUST rumors.

please post if you find out any information.

hmmm....i don't think that is the 65% deal all the inmates talk about, but it still sounds pretty good.

is this still JUST a bill that has to be passed by the legislature and the voters or...?

i hope this bill helps your friend....if you run across any more "good deals" please post them. i live in california and it is hard to keep up with the arizona news.

If an inmate signed a plea, are they also allowed the 85% early release?

It's actually a 15% early release. They serve 85% of their sentence. The plea agreement should only affect the sentencing. Early release falls under the Department of Corrections and the Board of Clemency (Parole Board). Have you looked him up on the ADC website? The ERCD (early release credit date) on the sentence page should be equal to 85% of his total sentence. The governor of AZ has called for a special session of legislature to deal with overcrowding. It will be on Oct 20th. So let's keep our fingers crossed that any action will be effective immediately and retro-active. I guess it wouldn't do alot for current prison over crowding if it wasn't!

Hey, everybody!
I just wanted to remind you all to write or e-mail the governer regarding your thoughts on Prison Overpopulation and possible solutions to the problem. Every little bit helps, so send her a quick e-mail or something. We have until Oct. 20! http://www.governor.state.az.us/

My baby is going to Prison for a non-violent drug offense, and I need all of your support so she can get out sooner than 4 years! Thanks you.

Hello everyone!
I live in Virginia. Has anyone heard any news out of the special session yet in as far as the sentancing reform?

I have a friend in Safford as well. He's in Tonto Unit. Is your friend near there? I'm really clueless as to what prisons are around there. I'm in Phoenix, so it's quite a drive for me.
