Joe sent me these huge drawings that he has been working on for over 5 months. He wants me to sell them for him. Does anyone know of any good sites other than Ebay to sell them on? He is asking quite a bit for them.

That is prisonart.org :). I have contacted them before and they seem to be very nice.

Yeah, prisonart.org sells prisoner arts and crafts and they only charge ten percent for the service.

eBay will handle artwork made by prisoners as long as it is not by "notorious or famous prisoners from the past 50 years". They adopted this restriction after several people built cottage industries by writing to Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, and the like, and selling the results. However, there are many prison-made items for sale on the site, some of them drawings showing a very high degree of talent indeed. Basically, I would say that if you are selling the art rather than the artist's name, you should be ok.

These things do seem to be selling, though whether they bring as much as your son may want for his work. One of the major problems with online auctions is that each listing is something of a gamble....you might hit the jackpot, or you might end up selling an item for its minimum bid. eBay will allow you to set a reserve price, of course, but my experience has been that it tends to discourage bidders.

Yes! Prisonart.org is great. One of my Joe's drawings just sold on his site, was only there for a couple of days. Couldn't believe it sold that fast. Will be sending him more drawings as soon as he sends them to me. Try it, he has lots of stuff on his site.

What kind of drawings do they accept? Can we see what they have to offer? Love Barb

I've sold a few things there as well and they accept art of any medium including ceramics, jewelry, leather goods, etc. and yes you can go to prisonart.org and view everything.

Not sure if anybody would be interested, but I've been working on trying to sell Kenny's art and woodwork...I found cafepress dot com You can put the drawings on several different products like t-shirts, mugs, calenders, etc.... If your interested let me know, you can also make money on referrals. I'm sure that would seem cheesy to some...Personally speaking I think his work should be hung in a Gallery somewhere, he's really talented, but it's very important to generate as much money as possible for his legal fund. I will definetly check out prisonart.org!

I use cafepress.com too and unless you link it to your website it doesn't really get a whole lot of traffic. But it is great exposure. I am going to look around prisonart and see what I can find.
