View Full Version : Are there vendors that make custom CD's?
LovingYou 02-12-2006, 04:25 PM  Does anyone know if there is a vendor that makes custom CDs that I can order? I wanna order a CD with only the songs I like so he can have it. Is that possible?
I know where to order regular CDs.
Thanks
RPinSD 02-13-2006, 11:00 AM Hi Pam
I don't know of anyone that does that, it's a great idea though.

whiskeylullabye 02-13-2006, 11:02 AM Walmart does!
TheGeneralsWife 02-13-2006, 12:43 PM They do? HOW? We are all curious about that one. Do you do it over the internet?
moniqueSC 02-13-2006, 12:47 PM Yes, Wal-Mart does it over the internet. You choose the songs and pay for the CD. They ship it wherever you want.
LovingYou 02-13-2006, 09:48 PM I notice that Wal mart as well as Tower Records too. So if they send it to my bf is that considered a special package? I'm confused.
TheGeneralsWife 02-14-2006, 12:14 PM Its not a special package at Salinas Valley. They can get as many of the book, music orders as they want. I don't know about any other prisons though, you might have to check with the mail room.
NIKKIWHIT70 02-14-2006, 12:15 PM I know at CSATf the CD's have to be ordered with their quarterly packages...
tinyelizabeth 02-14-2006, 05:10 PM I checked with the mail room and they don't accept any cd's or book from any other vendors, except Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
qwerty 02-15-2006, 02:27 AM I thought all Cali prisons ONLY accept CDs in quarterly packages now... guess I was wrong???
I know Lancaster and Pleasant Valley only accept them that way...
Boy I would love to send him a custom CD.
csusarrah 03-01-2006, 03:01 PM Crap! I didn't even call, i got so excited about sending him a custom CD, that I totally neglected to even ask, and Lancaster sure doesn't accept them! That sucks! I hate rules!
LovingYou 03-01-2006, 09:57 PM so did it get returned? I dont think mine can get it too.
csusarrah 03-02-2006, 12:01 PM Lancaster takes a million years to process anything at all! I swear! Anyways... no, I haven't gotten it back, but they told me that they will send it back to Wal Mart...I don't know.. maybe it will slip through!
luckyme1526 03-07-2006, 05:55 PM Wow, that's a real good idea, I wish that Plesant Valley would accept them like that, but nope, they don't!

16Diamonds 06-21-2006, 01:43 AM so does cd's have to go in quarterly packages?? and 1 more question...who can i order them from?? is it the same like books? as long as it's straight from the vendor? my boy's getting mainlined soon...just not sure where..but i'm preparing
You have to order CDs either as part of a quarterly package, or as a special puchase. Special purchases need to be initiated by the inmate (they get a form, record what they want, get it approved by a CO, and then send it to you to actually order). You cannot order CDs like you order books.
Access and Walkenhorst both carry CDs; I'm not sure about other vendors as those are the only 2 I use. Access has their music catalog online, so you can add CDs to an order just like you'd add any other item. I think that with Walkenhorst you have to call them to have them added (at least as of my last order with them), since they don't have their CDs listed online yet.
Let me know if you have other questions!
16Diamonds 06-21-2006, 11:51 AM i went to access website and i couldn't see where the music catalog was. what is walkenhorst's website?
On the Access site you should see an option to access the Music Store on the list of categories on the left side of the screen. Note that you can only see what's available to order once you have selected the institution. Since you don't yet know which institution you'll be sending things to, you might want to just pick one from the list so you'll be able to see the music choices. Keep in mind, however, that each institution has different rules as to what you can send in in a quarterly package, so you can only use this info as a guide for now. Once your guy gets mainlined you can pick his exact institution and yard, and then you'll know for sure what he is allowed to receive (for CDs, food, clothes, etc).
Walkenhort's website is https://walkenhorsts.securesites.com , for future reference.
MizzCandy 06-21-2006, 04:56 PM Just so I know I am reading this correctly.....WALMART or actually walmart.com will let you create a CD of songs that YOU choose and you can mail them to your honey?
MAN I am on it!
Thanks!
I know it sounds good, but too good to be true. If you read all the posts here you'll find that this isn't true. Unless there's some exception none of us know about, all CA prisons will only allow CDs sent through special purchases or quarterly packages. So, unfortunately, you CANNOT get a CD like this sent to your guy. Sorry!

mizz_jp 07-27-2006, 09:37 PM Yes, Wal-Mart does it over the internet. You choose the songs and pay for the CD. They ship it wherever you want.
that's good to know cause I'll be ordering CD's. all he wants is music.
PenpalCT 07-29-2006, 01:08 AM I've spoken to a few people and either they were "lucky" or whatever because their CDs have gotten through (they each ordered from walmart.com)
I'm trying it next week or whenever the LD is over
