I am an independant researcher and my specialty is anti-biotics. Two years ago my lab was seized and today I am facing charges associated with manufacturing Meth.
My goal was to search the rain forest in Costa Rica for a new drug to give to the world. My intentions were honorable. Now my studies may send me to prison.
I have the potential to make the world a better place for everybody and the war on drugs threatens all I have worked towards for many years. Because I am not sanctioned by the government or a pharmacuetical company I stand accused of engaging in illegal chemistry due to the hysteria surrounding the meth epidemic. I will not be the first scientist jailed for my science and I wont be the last.
Does America deserve my work and possible discovery of a much needed new anti-biotic? Do scientific advances come at too high a cost? Is science illegal, ever?
Most of the greatest discoveries in science have come at the hands of those like me. Tinkering and playing with ideas has led to a great many advances and the war on drugs threatens this beneficial characteristic of man. I have an incredible curiosity and I'll go to prison for it.
America is in serious trouble and I will go to Costa Rica someday and not come home because I cannot be free here. I hope I can give the world the new drug but it wont be with the help of the U.S. government. They will have done everything in their power to stop me.
God help us. Science has become a crime.
