Another racial brawl at LA County jail

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Sheriff's deputies put down a fight involving nearly 200 jail inmates Thursday, the latest in a series of racially charged brawls at a Los Angeles County lockup, authorities said. There were no major injuries.

The fight between black and Hispanic inmates broke out shortly before 1 p.m. at two dorms in the East Facility of Pitchess Detention Center near Castaic, about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Authorities quelled the brief melee using "clear out" gas, officials said. No deputies were hurt.
The fight erupted after sheriff's officials, hoping to ease tension in the detention center, allowed clergy into a different section of the facility Thursday to talk with inmates.

I do not understand how can this happen if they are on lockdown status and from what I heard is that LATINOS on the bottom floors and BLACKS on the upper lever so how can that happen. THere is something going on maybe they do not want it out or Baca just does not hace a clue on what the problem is or how to fix it. To be honest I do not believe it has anything to do with gangs in the outside reaching the inside. Baca needs to come up with a better excuse.

this is a problem thats been a long time coming... my husband was in wayside from september to november and they has the same problems!!!!!

I have heard that the NAACP has been fighting them on the segregation thing. The ACLU supports it supposedly. This is just what I have heard on the radio....not factual. At least not yet.
