hey everyone, If someone could clear up the confusion I have on this : Should I put money on my husbands books while he is in county jail awaiting transfer to prison? I understand if I do it before he is delivered to cdc , the monies will follow him . however if I wait and send the money to him at donovan they will tax 45% and he does owe child/support (alot) I understand the remaining balance goes to fines , restitution, gov. depts. so on and so forth..... Any response asap would be greatly appriciated. bullittgirl

Yes, definitely send him the money while he's in the county jail because he will get 100% of it while in county. If you send it to him when he gets to prison then CDCR will take 44% out for restitution. So if you want him to receive 100% of the money then I suggest you send it before he's sent to a CA state prison.

Hello! I just want to confirm that money sent to my man in jail follows him to prison. He never made it to store before being transferred and is now hurting for money and supplies. Is the money "taxed" when transferred? How can he/I find out that he does have money on his books so he can get the things he needs to hold him over until the next money order reaches him?

Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

The money follows them, but it usually takes about a month to show up. Send him some money, just in case, because he probably needs to go to the store.
