It has passed and will be in effect August 28, 2003. It passed back in April. It looks to only be for non violent offenders and first time offenders. I don't know how they are going to go about releasing the men, but, we'll find out!

I am new to this site. Does this bill apply to federal prison? My husband just started a 12 mo 1 day sentence in a federal camp. Thank you.

my boyfriend is was originally soposed to serve 5 months for receiving s.p.but signed a cruise waiver agreement for 2 years if he got into any trouble before he had to turn himself in, he got stopped by thp.o & had a w.p. on him empty even, so he ended up getting the 2 years, he has to serve 50% of the time, so with this new bill it would make it 35% wouldn't it? and if his release date was dec. would it be sept. now? i'm new to all of this so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

This bill is only for Missouri. It's SB5 and it was signed just last week or the week before. It's a senate bill.

hey i will look into it and get back to you by Sat the latest every state has its own new bills but also there are some that are being done nation wide and there are so many that sound that same but are not. Each one has its lil twists and turns that can make a big differnce...for instance the state of Oregon where my honey is at has 3 bills only one applies to him and would allow him to be realese in a few weeks...IF it passes.....the others may pass but dont apply to him.i will do what i can from home with my codes but if all else fails i am better off doing it from work....but will do what i can..until then be safe.

*8 months till my love comes home

IN RESPONSE TO CHRISTYS REPLY THAT THE SB5 BILL IS ONLY FOR MISSOURI, I BELIVE THAT THE SB5 IS NOT JUST FOR MISOURI IT WILL AFFECT A NUMBER OF STATES, CALIFORNIA, ALABAMA, ARKANSAW, VIRGINIA, TEXAS, OREGAN, ETC... IT IS A SENATE BILL THAT WAS PASSED IN APRIL 2003, TO BECOME A LAW A OF JULY1 2003 (WHICH IS THE START OF THE NEW FISCAL YEAR, RIGHT?), BUT WILL NOT GO INTO EFFECT UNTIL AUGUST 23 OR 28 2003, IT IS FOR ALL FIRST TIME NON VIOLENT OFFENDERS, THEIR TIME WILL BE CUT BACK EITHER TO/BY 35% OF THEIR ORIGINAL SENTENCE, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I HAVE LEARNED, MY APOLOGIES IF I AM WRONG , IF I AM PLEASEE LET ME KNOW THANKS AND TAKE CARE TO ALL.

SB5 is a Missouri Senate bill. Other then that, you have the info correct. It will only affect prisons in Missouri. If you go to the Missouri Senate home page, you will find all the bills that passed and Govenor Holden signed. He signed this one in June, I believe. It went into effect immediatly. July 1 was the beginning of the fiscal year for Missouri.

It would help greatly now and forever if a overview of a bill is posted and a link (copy and paste) to where the information is found.

Hearsay, is just that, hearsay and should be presented as such, until the facts are known.

We need all the hope we can find, but misinformation is a total let down, and can cause deep depression for some.

So, keep on Lô¿ôKing, many need what y'all will find!!
