My husband is a inmate at Victorville Med. I am planning on going to see him at the end of Feb. also looking for a good area to move to down there. I have never been to that area wondering about housing and jobs.

Houses are cheap, like in the high 200,000 for brand new 3-4 bedroom homes. Only it is in the desert and there wasn't to much to do out there. I think that San Bernardino isn't that far away so you could work there. Oh and it was HOT HOT HOT when I went. It also find of felt like it was a city dumped in the middle of nowhere because of the FCC. But who knows you might like it. I liked the houses. I stopped to look to see what you could get for $290,000 and it was amazing, some of the homes weren't even built yet.

Victorville is located approximately 85 miles northeast of Los Angeles on Interstate 15. I also believe 100 and something miles from Las Vegas. TheGeneralsWife, is right houses are pretty cheap and it's in the middle of nowhere. Here's some info I found, hope it helps. FCI Victorville Medium II is in Adelanto, Ca.

I think that its near Palmdale and Lancaster. If you are military there is Ellis Air Force base near by that I think has a PX if you need that, which might make it better for you. I have only been there a few times, but the people in the city were real nice and gas was cheap out there.
