I have sbc and i just wante to know if anyone else has this. I am waiting for my husband. I don't wanna find out later that i have to go through another company to accept his call. Before i had sbc i had att and they told me that they accept collect calls well i came to find out that they don't i had to set up a different account with correctional billing, that cost me a fortune. so i called sbc and the lady informed that they are the only phone company that accpets collect calls. But know they merged with att, or something like that so i am scared that i won't be able to get his cals. If anyone has any info i would very much appreciate it ,i am desperate to know. ANd if there is another way to save money if sbc doesn't accept it.

I have SBC as my local phone service and they are one if not the only company that MCI will third party bill. So if you have SBC you do not have to set up an additional service it will just show up on your SBC bill "MCI".

megan Hi thank you so much for your response. Knowing that really relieves some stress of me. One thing though what do you mean by MCI? Do the calls go through MCI? Thank you again i really appreciate it.

I also have SBC as my local carrier. The calls I receive from my loved one are thru MCI. Most of the calls thru the CA prison's are routed thru MCI. I didn't have to set anything up with MCI to accept these calls. I have heard that if you do accept more than $100.00 in collect calls-you will need to set up an account with MCI.
Good luck!:)

I had SBC before my husband got locked up then I ended up changing to MCI about 2 months after he went to prison because it was cheaper to go though MCI, I did not have to pay for the 3rd party billing fee. Either way you can get the calls though! Now that my husband is home I went back to SBC!!
