I was supposed to be sentenced to state prison/family foundations on 1/25. At the last minute, the judge realized that I had to have a probation report recommending me to the program. I went to the probation department, and they gave me an appointment for tomorrow (2/1). I have already been screened by the department of corrections women & children's unit and have been accepted into the program. The judge and DA both agree to it. Now, I am worried about my interview with probation.
What normally happens at the interview? I am just wondering why they get to decide on this program when it's not even a probationary sentence?
If anyone can tell me what to expect I would appreciate it. :)

Is this a CA case? I'm unfamiliar with "family foundations". CA has programs for prison moms with infants, but I've never heard it takes a DA's consent to get in.

My dad actually had his probation interview today. He said she was nice and all she did was review his cases and take his letters for the sentencing judge. He was only in there for half an hour. I hope it goes well for you too. Good Luck.:D

Yes, this is a CA case. Family Foundations is a one year correctional center for non-violent female offenders who have to be pregnant or have a child under 6 years of age and have to have a history of substance abuse. My 3 year old gets to come with me and live at the center in santa fe springs. It is the only program within the department of corrections where you do not have to go to state prison first.
I hope it goes okay this morning- I am a little nervous. I already told my daughter that she was coming with me since the judge and DA agreed to it. Sounds like it won't be a big deal- thanks for letting me know!!!

It went ok. The probation officer told me she was not allowed to discuss my case at all because I had already pled guilty and I guess she was basically just screening me for the program. She didn't tell me if she thought I was eligible so now I have to wait until I go to court next wednesday.

Don't be fooled by the "nice" person you may have talked to. When I had my probation interview, all the officer did was ask me questions about the police report. Since I was a co-defendant (with my man) the report was like 50 pages long and only about 5 pages pertained to me. Listen very carefully to what the officer tells you. She got MIXED up with a lot of the information that was in the report. For example, one part of the report said that the police recovered a "CA DL from defendant's purse". We all know this as California Drivers License. And they took the license for identification purposes. So anyway, the probation officer said "So it says here that they found drugs in your purse?" I was like "NO. CA DL is California Drivers License." And she said "Oh, wow...” (no joke, this lady really thought that). There were several other things that she mixed up too. And they were mix-ups that could have gotten me a worse sentence.
Anyway, the probation officer will write up a report that suggests your sentencing. Basically, depending on how you plead and from what the police report said. The judge will usually take whatever the probation officer suggests for your sentencing. I don't think that is really fair because that lady didn't know what she was doing at all. When she wrote up the report she said she thought I was lying and suggested that I do 90 days of county jail and 3 years of probation. And I was really nice and honest with her.
The judge ended up only giving me 45 days of house arrest and 3 years probation. Thank God he didn’t go with that lady’s suggestion. I think he could tell what kind of person I am.
Good luck with your sentencing.

I think she's already gone. She was due to be sentenced on somewhere in February and she has't been on since Feb 8

Oh! When I saw (2/1), I was thinking (3/1). I thought her appt. was yesterday. Well, I hope she is ok....
