View Full Version : Transferred, When can he call? carin 01-29-2006, 07:21 PM My husband was transferred from the holding center to a state facility. I don't know where. Thanks Momma Ann 01-30-2006, 02:29 PM you can try to look him up on the inmate locator http://www.docs.state.ny.us/ put in his info (you probably do not have his DIN yet.) depending on where he was in county-he is most likely at Elmira or Downstate for Reception (less likely but possible, Ulster or Wende.) Reception can be up to 2 months at Elmira rarely more than 2 weeks at Downstate. My son could only call once per week while at Elmira. Also, make sure you review the info about setting up a collect account with inmate services for MCI or he will not be able to call you. You must have a landline and it cannot be cable service or a cell. look for the MCI thread on this page to get the numbers and info on how to do this. No matter who provides your home land line service, verizon..even MCI, you must set up this separate kind of acount to get calls from him. Karazima2414 02-19-2006, 03:19 PM sINCE YOUR HUSBAND WAS JUST TRANSFERD TO A STATE FACILITY, IN ORDER FOR YOU TO HEAR FROM HE WILL HAVE TO PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER ON HIS PHONE LIST. IT WILL TAKE PROBABLY COUPLE DAYS FOR IT TO CLEAR, AND AFTER THAT THEN HE WILL BE ABLE TO CALL YOU. Manzanita 02-20-2006, 12:09 PM I encourage all new members to start here! http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174457 CURIOUS411 02-27-2006, 12:19 PM what do you mean on his phone list..are you saying each inmate has a phone list that's on the c/o's records..or do you mean his own personal phone list of numbers that he can call...do the c/o's keep a list of each inmates numbers on who he is calling? Manzanita 02-27-2006, 06:16 PM Every inmate has to have a phone list, which are numbers he puts on that list of people he will call, and yes, they do have a record of it. He can only call those on that list. HEISMYANGEL 03-10-2006, 06:31 PM He needs to get you on his phone list and have you approved. It usually takes about a week. Also, call MCI and make sure your number is not blocked for collect calls. You will need to send them a phone bill sometimes so they can clear your line for calls from a prison |
