My husband is being transferred to Antelope fire camp on thursday. Any info someone can provide me on the fire camps I would appreciate it. Like how is the visiting? Do they have a strict dress code like the prisons. Anything that a loved of the inmate may want to know would be helpful...thanks:D

BlessedLady35, My son is in Antelope Fire Camp. The visiting is great, no strict dress code, you can't wear orange. You might want to call and ask for sure what you can and can't wear. I took an ice chest on wheels with a ton of canned drinks, we took lots of food from Jack-in-the Box, you can barbeque, you can take poloroid film in for pictures, I took a ten pack each day. visiting is 9:30 till 3:30.. They have a gazebo and a pond in the yard, It kind of looks like a small mountain resort. ..inside there is a TV, VCR and videos you can watch and board games and cards.
They don't bother you at visiting at all, when it is count time they just go around with their clip board, they know everyone by name and sight.

PT Rose,
Thanks for the info. How often do you visit? Where do you come from? I am so excited about being able to bring him food. He is a pickey eater and has lost a lot of weight....

The best thing to do is call the camp to find out what is acceptable or not. At my hubbie's camp we can wear just about anything except orange and no tank tops. All other colors are fine. It all depends on the camp.
That is very true. At my guys camp you can not wear orange of course, or grey sweats. I was able to wear layers. I wore a shirt, a zipper down sweater with a hood, and a coat. Also no blue jeans, but any other color jeans were ok. It really does depend on the camp.
