Kind of stunned this is such a big deal on the forum - it's more-or-less unnoticed who is with WHO here in the UK these days.
That's cool though - just letting you know mainly I am SO white you can see my veins (blonde and my gran used to shout at me for ' writing on myself' (i hadn't it was the veins lol
Adrian is well jet black I guess you could say - but what the hell - we all bleed the same colour right ? :) Nice to meet you all x x x

i'm not that white (a litttle tanned) but my boyfriend is black too and never had a problem over here. most people don't even seem to notice that we are an inter racial couple. :D

Welcome to the forum Kate. It's good that it's not an issue in the UK. I can't wait until it's not noticed here in the US as well :)

Hi Kate... Welcome to the Interracial Forum. Im a mixed race Brit and my honey is a black American.

I do have to say... you are very fortunate to not have really encountered any problems with your relationship and society over here in the UK. Unfortunately I cant say the same. :(

Oh - am sorry to hear that 2nice :( No, honestly, not had a problem at all. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think over here, they even note ' race' on forms ? I think it's just height, weight, hair colour etc ? I could be wrong, but I remember finding it a bit odd, when I was looking for penpals orignally, to be told what ' race' they were :)

Welcome to pto and our forum.. It is not always a big deal in the streets but raising a child who looks white and me being darker .. h ave gotten snide comments here and there. everyone is not about what race others are but there are some especially those in the prison world.. Alot tend to feel you will be better off with your own kind.. and its wrong to cross into another race but here in this forum we show that there are many great things about being in an irr .. and its just like being in any other relationship.. We love each other and we have our ups and downs just like everyone other couples.

What forms??? The thing about over here in the UK, it isnt so 'in your face'. Sometimes i wonder which is worse!!!!! I would rather people let me know that theyre against me than for them to be all 'okay' with me and be thinking something different in their mind! I like to know where i stand on all situations... Including race issues!

Forms - as in things like penpal sites (not that we have any) but like at the doctors etc (i'm assuming they list race over in the US on these etc etc - School forms etc etc - why so confused ?? :D
I have friends who are black, white, asian, chinese, gay, straight and I can honestly say no-one bats an eyelid. Perhaps back in the 60s but certainly not now :)

I'm with you, Kate, I find things very different here. It hasn't always been like that as I remember back in the 60s (yes, I'm of that age) I had a very hard time because of my choice of friends, but now nobody gives a damn.

I do have problems with all form filling though. You have to put your 'ethnic origin' on just about everything and that's a sure way to get my blood pressure to rise. I'm Romany and there's never a box for me to tick. I always add it to each and every form I fill in because I'm proud of what I am and I won't just be accepted as 'White - British' After all, everyone else has the right to state who they are and where they come from.

hi Kate you are right here in sheffield its common to see interracial couples and as you say its widely accepted here, and forms dont ask the race of anyone, you already know what my sweetie is

Elsapunzi, all the forms I ever have to fill in here ask my race. It's normally down as 'ethnic origin' but that's still asking what race you are.

They do have them on the forms over here in the UK. On some forms it is optional, and some compulsary. Previously they never had the selection on 'Mixed', but now they do.
