Hi, I just got a wonderful thank you letter from Randy Derick Hollingquest in Sprigville, AL I would like to send him some stamps and some blank greeting cards but I want to make sure they will let them in. Can someone please let me know about the rules there? If anyone is looking for a pen-pal Randy wrote me a wonderful two page thank you and he would love to hear from you too. Love Barbara

Stamps are definitely fine, Barbara. The basic rule in Alabama is "two of anything at a time" - so you can send two books or sheets of stamps at a time for sure. Actually I have gotten in more than that but that's the basic rules.

The greeting cards I think would be fine as well, Brian's mom has sent them to him that way. And even though they have the "two of everything" rule I've been able to send in a manila envelope stuffed to the gills with #10 envelopes with no problem, sheets of 500 mailing labels, etc. So I don't think the cards would be a problem either.

Any other questions about Alabama just let me know, you know the mailroom where Brian is and I are on close personal terms... they just LOVE me down there... ;)

Thank you so much Lysbeth, so you think I am safe to send in a few cards, envelopes and stamps? Thank you again I am going to print him some nice cards right now. Love Barbara

Definitely OK with envelopes and stamps... not 100% sure about the greeting cards but I *think* they'd be OK. Really (at least at Brian's facility) they don't seem to worry about too much of the paper-type stuff!!!

well all I can say is that I have sent greeting cards to Mike at holman and they were returned. But I have sent them in and signed the inside with pencil and he was allowed those. Just another way of playing their games. I sent Mike three weeks ago a copy of the monthly report that I got from Alabama DOC website and they still have it saying that it is contraband. So you just never know.
