View Full Version : 1b - want to find out info about furloughs
James'Girl 01-28-2006, 06:34 PM Can anyone tell me about how furloughs work? My fiance got his 1b on wednesday finally. He's been trying for the longest and they always turn him down. Well I got a letter yesterday saying he got it. I started crying and jumping up and down like a crazy person. I am extremely happy.
ittybittykitty 01-28-2006, 07:21 PM Jame's girl, Furloughs are great....except the taking him back:( We have one every six months.Pick him up around 8:30 Monday...he HAS to be back by 5P.M. or they consider him escapee. You have to check in with your parol officer the first day in person and several times by phone and on Wed. in person. We have a great time!!! Our next one is in March...we are considering getting married then :) He will have to keep his class to get them every six months. It is so hard on Friday...and my guy has a hard time for a few weeks afterwards.Hope this helps some.Need more info. let me know.kitty
James'Girl 01-30-2006, 11:36 AM Thanks so much for the info. I praying he keeps his class. Which he is a pretty good inmate. He's been in for 3 years and has only had 2 diciplinaries. He can get married on furlough? The Warden doesn't have to approve it? Because we are wanting to get married. I told him that I love him so much that I would marry him at his unit. And I do he means so much to me. He is my world. I would do anything for him. We want to start a family when he gets furlough.
ittybittykitty 01-31-2006, 12:30 PM I do not know for sure on being able to get married on furloughs... We are checking into it.And hopefully we will be able to.If not we will do The Chapel Wedding:) I don't mind.I love him and however we have to do it ... we will. kitty
James'Girl 01-31-2006, 01:28 PM When you find out let me know. I feel the same way you do. I'm going to marry him either way. He can be out here or I can go there. As long as I am with him I don't care. He is the only man my heart beats for.
crisnclay 02-01-2006, 04:10 PM You still have to get it approved. I married my husband while on a 309 and we had to get it approved. He was up north and not at a "unit" so we had to go through Pine Bluff
James'Girl 02-01-2006, 07:10 PM Thanks! I knew it had to be approved. Did ya'll have to go through any counseling or anything? If so for how long? How long did it take to get approved after ya'll applied? When you apply what exactly are they looking at? I guess what I'm asking is how do they determine to approve or deny ya'll..
crisnclay 02-02-2006, 07:03 AM no we didnt have to go through any counseling. my husband got the packet and fiilled it out for both of us. I had to sign papers but it was going to be a week before i could get up there so one of the dispatchers signed my name for me. i dont remember how long we had to wait but it wasnt very long. i have no idea what they are looking for. The only thing I know they look at is to make sure the inmate isnt alreay married. i dont really remember how long it took. We sent them the date we wanted to get married and we were able to get married on our date we set..July 10, 2003

ittybittykitty 02-02-2006, 03:27 PM Yeah, Thanks for your help. We are working on it !!!! I Pray it all goes thru, if not we will get married at Tucker or next Furlough.I well see him again Sunday and maybe I will know a little more.kitty
crisnclay 02-02-2006, 05:00 PM even on a furlough it has to be approved. if he doesnt get it approved and the state finds out he will get in a lot of trouble
ittybittykitty 02-03-2006, 09:40 AM Yeah, We know he is looking into it.We probably started to late on it for this furlough anyway, since it take several weeks to process. But hey it was a great thought. I do not mind having it at Tucker or even waiting for the next furlough and getting everything approved by then.We knew all along it is something that has to be approved, as he is a ward (I guess you call it) of the state. It will all work out ok however it has to be done, now or later...someday we will be married :) Thanks, for all your info. I have found several people in the last week here, since joining who have been very helpful.Looks like we need to work on getting this Arkansas Forum more active... we need each other for support. I mean there are people who have walked this path longer than me who can shed some light on things to me.And maybe someday I can also help others. Thanks, for you input on the marriage thing, I am sure I will have more questions about who knows what later:) Have a Great Day ! kitty
crisnclay 02-03-2006, 06:30 PM feel free to PM me with any question you may have. I dont know how long you have been doing this but i have been doing this going on 7 years. I only have a year and a half left :D Cant wait to finally be a real family!!!
