View Full Version : Can some one give me any advice about Salinas Valley SNY??????
Danzante2003 01-28-2006, 12:38 AM Hello everyone
I hope all you are doing ok, I would like to know if any of you can give me an advice of how BAD the Salinas Valley SP SNY is, I am talking about visiting of course, inmate treat, staff, mail, package receiving, canteen and you know, all the basics and not so basics.
With all this moving “MCSP to Folsom“ mess, we want to explore our choices and see how bad is Salinas SNY comparing with Folsom.
I’ll appreciate all your comments, and thank you all for taking a look at my message.
Have a great weekend.
Luis.
brownqueen 01-28-2006, 12:33 PM I Need Some Info Too.... Help Anyone!!
ati2d 02-01-2006, 01:14 PM What exactly are you trying to find out? Which SNY yard are you asking about....A or B? A is level 4 & B is level 3.
From what I hear, the worst prison is......the one you're IN!
You can either pm me or ask here.
For security reasons, I may have to pm you back, though.
TheGeneralsWife 02-03-2006, 06:36 PM Thats funny but true. My daughters Godfather is in B5 and he came from Corcoran SATF and he said this was a better place, but he has only been there for a few weeks. I do know that if you are visiting someone with a sex crime SVSP is on it about keeping them behind glass in you bring a child, no matter if your child was the victim or not. I know in some places they didn't enforce it as much, but Salinas is on it and will not allow it.From what I hear, the worst prison is......the one you're IN!
though.
Ruth2356 02-06-2006, 11:24 AM My son is in B-yard gym, visiting is not to bad .but you do have watch what you wear. They seem to change it everyweekrnd. Their mail is real slow. My son said that they have one guy checking mail for 2500 inmates. It take almost two months for him to get a letter from me. I get his in two days. It has taken up too three weeks for him to get his package. It doesn't seem to bad for him. He's in the gym because their so over crowded that theres no cells for him. But he seem to like it. I hope help you out.
My b/f is on A yard and has been ther for 2 1/2 years. He should be moved to B yeard since he dropped points and is now a level three....but the tend to keep him on A yard. A yard is not pretty. Last year they were on Lockdown 320 days out of 365 days. The minute they come off lockdown they are right back on. The mail is extramly slow and seems to have gotten slower over the past few months. From what I understand all level 4 problem inmates will be shipped out of SVSP and A yard will be made into a level 3 none problem inmates. That is good news for those who will stay. I know others who were transfered to B yard and say it is much better. The guards have become more sticked with the dress code. The nice thing about A yard during visits is the CO's are professional and polite.
Hope this helps.
FaithHeals 02-21-2006, 06:53 PM My husband was transferred to SVSP back in November from Lancaster, and he said it's much better than Lancaster. He's on B yard, and visiting is always very nice and laid back, we're allowed to sit close together and cuddle without the CO's having a fit, we can walk around together, etc. As far as the yard, he told me it's great because you don't have a lot of the politics and racial problems that you have on mainline yards. In fact, not too long ago, someone was trying to stir up racial problems, and the building got together and got him transferred. They seem to like their peace and harmony in there, and everyone is "don't ask, don't tell" about their crimes, which makes it so much better for me, knowing I don't have to worry about his safety in there.

TheGeneralsWife 02-23-2006, 01:50 PM Thats kind of what my daughter's Godfather said. He said that a lot of the racial crap and the politcs from SATF were all left behind and that this yard is running so much smoother then before. I hope that he'll finish out the rest of his sentance like that. I know he was in and out of the hole for fighting in Corcoran and up here he hasn't gotten into anythign crazy. I have always been worried about is conviction because I know he was trying to fight it, but he tells me that this isn't really like that, so I don't have to worry about him as much. I do know that they are making it a little hard for me to visit him half the day and visit my husband the other half, but that is the least of our worries.
bellezlove 02-24-2006, 12:49 PM hi ladies, my man is in corcoran shu getting ready to go to salinas valley sny.
he was told he would go to delano or castf but last week he was told he would be going to s.v. he is a level 4. can anyone give me the 411 on the whole sny there from visiting to housing?
thanks,
belle
TheGeneralsWife 02-24-2006, 05:01 PM He will probably go to B yard which is all SNY I think now. Visiting is crazy sometimes, but from what I hear A & B never terminate. You got to do the 6:30 car line thing and the CO's never really got the whole dress code thing down so it varries a lot. Maybe some of the ladies that go to B yard can tell you more about what that living is like.
FaithHeals 02-25-2006, 01:02 AM If he's level 4 sny, he'll probably go to A yard. B yard is Level 3. If he does go to B yard, I wouldn't worry too much, my husband's getting along fine in there, there's not a lot of drama, and the CO's are learning that they can lighten up, because the guys aren't going to start a bunch of crap like on other yards. Not that that makes them trustworthy, or anything, but it makes life more bearable when the CO's aren't riding your butt all the time.

Ruth2356 02-28-2006, 06:32 PM My son in B-yard, He does pretty good there. He make's his phone call a regulare base. He pretty lucky his bunk his on top right cross from the TV in the Gym.He join the football teams. said thats pretty good as long has they kept their cool. Has for the visiting, The only bad thing is the lining up for the passes. To get a good long visit you have to get line at 1:00am in the morning to get a number from 1-60 which get you in about 9:00am. It take about anywhere from 30min to an hour for 20 to be process. it does fill up. They have food brought in between 11:00 - 12:00.But its a little on the costly. Like $15. for a $5 dollor pizza.Co are pretty good on how they treat people. The worst thing SVSp is mail, slower then a turtle!Hope this helps
FaithHeals 03-01-2006, 05:37 PM I don't think you have to line up as early as 1am to get a good pass. I usually arrive between 4:30 and 5:00 and I always get a pass less than 60. That usually has me in the visiting room by 9:30 at the latest, with almost 6 hours to spend with my husband.

JamiesFeatherwood 03-21-2006, 02:24 AM mail is extremely slow at salinas. it took me a month to get a letter. here recently we have it narrowed down to 11 days now. so its getting somewhat better.
bellezlove 03-21-2006, 12:22 PM I Just Got A Call From Someone At S.v & They Told Me My Man Is In The Area Where They Only Get 1 Hour Visits Until They Can Place Him. Does Anyone Know How Long He Might Stay There? Is It Bad Over There? Or Is This How It Goes Once You Get To Sny? I Forgot To Ask Them If He Can Call Yet Or Not?
Belle
