Just an suggestion for those of you here if you havent done so already you can call the tribal offices and get your NA loved one on their mailing list for the tribal newsletters they publish to let people know about what is going on in the tribe. Terry loves keeping up with his tribal roots and the extra mail is something they all enjoy most of the time the newsletters are free to registered members. The Caddo had no problem sending it to c prisoner and they were happty to hear he was wanting to return to his beliefs and to turn away from the life he was living. Here in Oklahoma they are a little better about giving the inmates access to the spirtiual aspects while they are in but not always Terry is really missing the sweat lodges they had at his last prison since where he is now is concidered a matinence unit they really dont give the guys to much of anything.

Is he Cherokee? If he is, he can still go to water on his own instead of the sweat, which is the Cherokee tradition. Sweat lodge is a Plains tradition. The Cherokee only did a sweat as a treatment for sickness. Since you're in Oklahoma, that's why I ask if he's Cherokee. Traditionally the Cherokee went to water in a river or stream, but lacking that, it can still be done even using water from a sink.

He is half Cherokee and half Caddo and is registered with the Caddo tribe and follows most of their traditions as that is what he was taught growing up.
