They update it every night at about 6:00 PM. My husband was just transferred two weeks ago and I checked in the morning and it said that he was at the original place. That evening I checked at about 7:30 PM and it said the new location. So I would say about 6:00 PM. You can also call Albany (518) 457-5000 and they should be able to give you information. Good luck.:(

Arrghh!!

Has, do you know where he might be going? Is it far? :(

I have no clue...He asked for three places, all near here. And he has a court thing coming up so the most logical thing would be county jail. Since that would be most logical, I'm guessing they put him somewhere near the Canadian border just for ha-has.
I'm going crazy checking the dang locator thingie, now at least I can stop until 6:01:) thanks. And calling the courthouse to see if they've set a date. Feels like I'm holding my breath in two directions at once.

Is he there yet?
Is he there yet?
Is he there yet?
Is he there yet?
Man, that has GOT to be frustrating!!!!! I'll be thinking about you at 6:01:) Hope he gets moved close.

Peace,
Lisa

I understand the frustration. My Richie left Lakeview and arrived in Gouverneur after 4 days. When I called the DOC # they first told me that the information was unknown. Unknown??? I was so upset. Crazy things run though your head when you don't know where your other half is. When I called back the 3nd day they said that he was in transit. He did finally call me almost 4 days later said that they stopped at 3 other facilities on the way there. I'm sure you will know something soon.

if you do not know by Monday AM (and I will pray you do), call this number:
For information on the location of a NYS prison inmate, call 518-457-5000 during normal business hours. (Due to the large volume of requests, callers may experience slight delays.) Before contacting us be telephone, you may want to utilize the Inmate Lookup listed above to obtain available information regarding inmates.

he's at Five Points. I hear they have a herd of white deer, and individual showers. I could not be happier about this- it is farther but they have to bring him back for court soon anyhow so WE WILLget to talk n kiss.
And it's a new building not a roach coach like Coxsackie. They have a cabinet shop. If he actually had to stay he could teach there.
CO, angel mine, I don't care how it is that you know, but DO keep me posted in the future? My info is really right out there, I have posted his full name and news stories about our case, and neither of us is ashamed of a dagnabbed thing. We're in the right:)
Love you all for responding

Mrs G - computers, silly.

Haswtch - actually I was just joking, I can't release that information beforehand, security risks they call it (and then sometimes counselors TELL THEM where they're going, go figure!).

CO what you say is true. When my hubby was transferred he was told to pack up the day before. I didn't get a letter from him that whole week. Then Thursday night when I saw that he was transferred the following day a counselor called my house to say where he was. When I got to my mailbox, there were 6 letters in the mailbox of the whole darn week. It wasn't until the last letter that he said that he was going to be moved.:) Now I am happy as can be because he is finally out of that horrible place.

Very funny. I had my camoflage gear, my gang of midget wrestlers, and all of our Uzis and ammo all set to meet the bus at Dunkin Donuts next time, you spoilsport!
Nah, as long as they get him there in 1 piece I can live with it. But maybe you can tell me, what kind of rep does 5 Points have? It a decent place as prisons go? And...if there is an answer...WHY move someone 100 miles farther when there's going to be a writ for them any day?

Haswtch: 5 Points is not a favorite resting place for most. Max A, double bunked -- basically the same type of place he just came from. I have a couple of guys I'm helping that are there now, and both despise it.

ugh. well, he'll like the white deer, anyway

Haswtch - 5 Points is a Max with some real idiots in it. It also has lots of young gung-ho CO's if you know what I mean. Is that where he's staying or is he just there for the weekend? The State doesn't care about transferring people and court dates, they'll just transport him! Your tax dollars hard at work! Why is he still in a Max?

Sigh. sounds just charming and splendid. If he was just going to be there for the weekend, would it show up on the 'puter? I have no clue if he is there for "the duration" or not. I don't even know at the moment what "the duration" is going to turn out to be.

He should indeed be medium-eligible by now. Could it be that he's still in max because he got the 4 months of SHU time? or maybe because he has told every counselor he's ever talked to that he absolutely hates the idea of dorm life? IDK, you tell me! my all knowing friend.

Manzanita

Has his classification changed to medium status? That is how he gets to go to a Medium Facility, only when his classification changes. Whether he likes dorm style or not, I don't think that makes a difference if he will be sent to one, if they want him to go to one. Five Points is Max, so do you know he will go there for sure?

OfficerFriendly
01-28-2006, 04:36 PM
Nope it won't show up on the internet site as to whether that's where he's staying - only on the DOCS internal computer system. Mrs G is right, the only way he will go to a medium is if his classification drops - which if it hasn't then he's most liukely not going to a "cushy" medium. As for whether he likes the dorms or not is no concern to DOCS! Gi figure huh? Do you know how many inmates I have seen where it recommends he NOT be sent to a medium, but yet he goes? Funny system we have going.

I wasn't exactly thinking they were going to make his preference in the matter a major issue. He has less than six years left now, and a counselor at Marcy told him it was time or nearly time for it to change.
No way does he/do we expect "cushy." As a reputed police assailant- whose repute far exceeds his grasp- he has been held under routinely unpleasant circumstances. He hasn't gotten into one actual serious scrape or beef with any other human being and still has the impeccable nice manners and the sparkle I fell in love with, and no amount of nonsensicalness will ever change that:)

6 years can be a loooong time in prison, depending upon how you do your bid.

Manzanita

And I think if he has six years left his classification has not changed to Medium yet.

haswtch

Right, and right. Hopefully the appeal, which has already met with partial success, will work out. Six DAYS in prison is a looooong time if you're innocent, no matter how you do your bid.

Hey, I just hope he gets the solo shower and gets to see the deer!

We've done the transfer dance enough to know it always has some good and some bad... heck, we got real lucky this last time, maybe you will too!

What's so strange about the transfers is every time mine has moved, yeah, the CDC won't announce it for security reasons -- yet he's always called me and told me where he's going... go figure!!

Anyhow, glad you're still feeling the sparkle!! :D:D

Actually I got a letter and he sounds good. White deer, showers- there is a greenhouse there and he loves to help stuff grow- he will be OK for the moment. The distance sx but it's worth it to have him in a better place than Coxsackie.

yeah, the only good think I can say about that place is, it made even the Marcy SHU seem plush and calm by comparison. Annies, I hope your boy isn't there long.

Yeppers. Renegade and CO don't seem to think much of it, but somebody else told me her hubby's OK there, and so far so good for Eric. As I said, Coxsackie lowers the expectations, which may not be such a bad thing all in all!
