NEW DELHI: Tihar was taken to a new "global high" when supercop Kiran Bedi initiated prison reforms way back in 1993. It resulted in her getting the most coveted Ramon Magsaysay award.

But a recent UN-sponsored study on her pet project — drug de-addiction and rehabilitation — has revealed some startling facts.

8%, I'd take that number anyday compared to the US. I also had never heard the term de-addiction.

Yeah Ive never heard the term either. One thing that struck me about this article is that they have taken strong action against guards that have supplied drugs to the inmates and fired them.
