View Full Version : The Transfer
kdiamondz 11-21-2003, 07:37 AM Well this is now the 8th day and my husband still has not landed wherever he is being transferred to.
Last Thursday I got a call that he was being transferred. Well I heard nothing over the weekend.
They packed up his property on Thursday and he sat until Monday morning. Finally he arrived at Ulster early Tuesday morning and there he is sitting until they send him out to where he is going.
So ithas been since Monday and he is wearing the same clothes. He was given a sliver of soap, a rag and toothpaste at Ulster, but no change of socks or underwear.
Sorry I just had to vent.

I hope he gets to where he is going very soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
trescheek 11-21-2003, 08:52 AM It's terrible that these kinds of things happen - my man was transferred around this time last year and his bags, along with a few others on the bus, were lost. He had nothing except the clothes on his back ... they were found eventually a few weeks later! Apparently they'd got dropped off at the wrong facility. It really is frustrating but hopefully things will work out soon! Keep your head up ...
LeaAnn 11-21-2003, 10:20 AM That has to be really frustrating. I cannot believe that they do a transfer like that. Hopefully he gets moved real soon.

caprione 11-21-2003, 10:50 PM I am sorry and I hope things are soon resolved.
My husband was transferred on very limtied notice. He spent every cent in his account to mail home a bunch of stuff to me...$45 dollars it cost him to send the packages, two of them. That was Feb. and we have nothing, I never got the packages and he never got the money back or any exxplanaition... and so it goes.

Jenuwine 11-26-2003, 08:23 AM I was just wondering if he has been moved to the new place yet. You haven't been around to update us. :) I'm hoping he is settled in the new place before his underwear gets up and walks on their own. :)

Salubri 04-02-2004, 11:14 AM Hi everyone! I have a question about transfers. My fiancee is requesting a transfer from woodbourne to collins. Can anyone tell me what goes on when they request transfers, what happens when they get transferred, and what your expeiance has been like with this situation if you've experianced it? Any informatin would be greatly appriciated. Thanks so much!!
caprione 04-02-2004, 07:52 PM Hi,
I haven't a lot of info. Generally, I think there has to be a good reason for the transfer. I have been told an inmate can't request a transfer (once he is palced somewhere) for up to two years unless he does have a valid reason.
Try calling Albany DOC and get a number for 'Classification and Movement'. Maybe you can get a few answers that way.
