Hey guys, I am a hair freak, and I've decided that mine needs to be more glossy. I've tried using products from the normal drug store, like Freeman's whatever it was called and it didn't make a difference. Now it's been suggested that I use a different product, that is very expensive, $32 a bottle. Now I have spent that much on shampoo in the past, but does anyone have any experience with what will make your hair more glossy?

The line that I may end up using is Frédéric Fekkai Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner.

So has anyone used this product, or know of a product that can get the results I'm looking for? (before I go to Sephora and spend $70)

Ok....don't think I'm a weirdo or anything...well, maybe I'm a little freaky...:)...but something I've used for years that's tried and true? Buy an avacado, peel it...moosh it up into a paste, and then you can either add honey...about 2 tablespoons, or mayo, again, about 2 tablespoons. Put this nice sticky, slimy mixture on your hair and work it in. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse it out and wash your hair as usual. Sometimes I wrap seran wrap around my head with the stuff on, but it's mostly to keep it from dripping anywhere else. My hair is very shiny and SOFT...and it's a cheap alternative to other products. If you try it, let me know how you like it!

I think good conditioner is worth paying for, but not shampoo. The way I look at it the conditioner cancels out pretty much anything the shampoo does.

I know my Mom uses Frederic Fekkai Protein Rx Treatment Mask and it makes her hair like silk.

For glossiness and shine I use Citre Shine Highly Polished Glossing Pomade after I've dried/styled my hair. I've tried other products, but I always come back to this. It really makes the sections you put it on shiny and gives a tiny bit of hold. It isn't heavy or waxy on your hair and doesn't end up looking dull after a few hours.

I've got an even better suggestion than avocado - Mayonnaise!! Or straight olive oil. you need to do a realy good shampoo and rinse, but it works wonders.

I use Got2B Shiney hair serum and gloss spray

OR

Extreme Shine by Special FX

Both these are serums you put on while your hair is still damp and can use when it is dry and styled as well.

omg i can't put honey in my hair! I'm too scared to try it, will you come over and help me :(

I can't put products in my hair after I dry it because it makes it sticky, hard, and heavy. I have really super great hair, and I hate when there is stuff in it.

The stuff I want to buy has olive oil in it, but I"m scared to just point olive oil on my head, lol.

Free shipping with a $25 purchase at beauty.com (drugstore.com). This way you'll be sure you like it before spending too much. Olive oil is like the tenth ingredient listed so it must be only a tiny amount. His products seem to work beautifully. Good luck!

I bought it last night and wow, my hair is SUPER SOFT and SHINY. Yes, I spent an OUTRAGEOUS amount, but sephora lets you return the products if you don't like them after you've used them so I figured it would be ok. I was orginally worried because my hair didn't feel that clean after I shampoo'd which is like a pet peeve of mine, but after I blew it dry it feels great! Totally worth the money...

I looked into the mayo and straight olive oil and honey thing, that would make my hair oily, which isn't what I want...I have normal/semi oily hair now, so anything that isn't light weight weighs it down

you know I use BioSilk. They have a serum that you put on when your hair is still wet.

Now that I am broke, I do it old style. I get Queen Helene, leave it in my hair for 15 minutes with a shower cap on. I've used that since I was a teenager.

But when I have the fund I will check out what you used.

I've heard about BioSilk, for now I'm sticking to this stuff, it's amazing, and it better be for the price I pay.

But my hair looks good and healthy, not like I've put a gloss in it to make it shiny, which was EXACTLY what I wanted :)

The best thing I have tried is Potion 9 by Sebastian. It's $13 for a small tube, but it lasts forever. It makes your hair soft and shiny, lots of body, and doesn't weigh it down. I have used it for years and LOVE it.
