For all of you who have been denied and denied by the parole board and now find the setbacks are getting longer, here is a group working on the problem:

-------------
California Lifer News is collecting information about individual hearings where inmates who had been receiving consistent 1 or 2 year denials were suddenly given multiple year denials without any justification or change in inmate behavior. If you have information about any such hearing, please forward it to: CLN, PO Box 687, Walnut, CA 91788.
---------

Also, the court case that freed a lifer whom the governor denied parole has been upheld on appeal -- that gives hope that more parole denials can be challenged.

This is great...do we write to these people or should we give the address to our loved ones so they could write to them directly?

I think it's for family members to write to, but I'm sure they'd welcome the info either way..

Do these people have a website or newsletter?

California Lifer News is an excellent newsletter researched by an inmate at CCF in Chowchilla who is a lifer and has little chance for parole. An outside law firm also contributes to the publication. Presumably, the post that started this threat is from someone at the law firm. The inmate writes the newsletter and her boyfriend gets it printed up and distributed. It's free to inmates. People outside pay a small amount -- like $15. If you can pay a few dollars more, it's a good cause to support.

The reason I know all this is that I write to teh inmate who puts together the newsletter.
