tebkrg 10-24-2002, 05:17 PM Crock Pot Cookies
Ok, this is my first time browsing this forum and I will say that I am disappointed! I thought that it would be brimming with all these amazing recipes but instead I find crushed chips mixed with peanut butter and water in a garbage bag! Yuck! LOL
Seriously, I am looking for help!
My Partner has a crock pot and wants a cookie recipe that he can make - I guess - one large cookie in the crock pot. I think he thinks that he can sell them if they are good? Supply and demand...
It should be an oatmeal based cookie and because he works in the kitchen he can get some of the ingredients that are necessary.
Can anyone help?
ewwwwwww.. lol,,,,,,, i wish i could help you, but i dont make many cookies unless they are store bought,,lol

jdswifey02 10-24-2002, 06:28 PM cookies in a crock pot?!?
Who knew THAT could be done!?!
I may just have to try that one.... :)
(someday)
Teb..... let us know how it works out!!!
shygirlkitty_nj 01-21-2003, 10:50 PM I dont know about a crock pot, but if he has access to a microwave, I can get you a good recipe!
B-Ray 01-22-2003, 12:28 AM Thank you Soul, that site will get used in this kitchen! I do the "slow" cook twice a month around here and sure need some new ideas!!! ~grin~
LilPinkWitch 03-15-2003, 11:04 AM Not that I'm any kind of cook... But wouldnt one of those no bake cookie recipies work
i alwasy cook my roast in my crock pot, i cook it over night, or even my pinto beans as well
softheart 03-15-2003, 12:33 PM Teb I have several prison reciepts that are very good from Breakfast on the Run to Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. But only no bake cookies and in cell prison cake, but no cookies in a crock pot. But I am not sure you even need them now since Teddy's circumstances have changed and this is a old post.
softie
tebkrg 03-15-2003, 04:22 PM Softie,
Actually I should get Teddy to send me the recipe because he has not only figured out how to make peanut butter cookies in the crock pot he has Prisoners going into debt for them! LOL Imagine being in debt to Teddy for peanut butter cookies! He also makes peanut brittle in the crock pot and sells that.
I think that most of this will stop now that he is in PC because he got most of the ingredients when he was working in the kitchen and he cannot work now that he is in PC.
softheart 03-15-2003, 05:22 PM I saw a thread some where about a cook book for prisoners I think that is such a good idea. For us all to get together and share the recipes and make it something like the newsletter for us to send out.
Hey I would buy some of Teddys cookies I love peanut butter. He sure is a smart man Teb he figures out a lot of things. I think you are going to have your hands full when he comes home...........:)
softie
tebkrg 03-15-2003, 08:41 PM softie,
He tells me that he cannot wait to cook for me! I am sure going to be ready for that! I am usually the one that cooks! Just so long as I don't have to clean up the kitchen! That will be his first lesson! LOL
JoeysMom 03-16-2003, 10:53 PM can everyone have a crock pot ??????????
JENNIFERMATTHEW 06-09-2003, 11:25 AM NO BAKE COOKIES IN A CROCK POT!
1 CUP OF WATER
25 RED SKEETLES
1/2 CUP OF OATMEAL
COOK IT DOWN TO CONSISTANCY,
MAKES A GREAT FRUIT COOKIE I'M TOLD
JEN
tebkrg 06-09-2003, 11:38 AM Cool! I will send this one on! Thanks!
dadsinprison 07-30-2003, 10:01 PM He could easily make "No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies" in a crock pot.
Ingredients:
2Cups sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 Cup milk
4 Table Spoons cocoa powder
3 Cups oatmeal
2/3 Cup peanutbutter (optional)
1/2 Teaspoon salt if you skip the peanutbutter
Bring sugar, marg., cocoa, milk to a boil for a minute. Stir in other ingredients. Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper to harden up.
Now, as for prison subsitutions...maybe a melted Hershy bar for the cocoa powder. Dark chololate would be best since cocoa has no sweetener. Margarine could be subsituted with butter, oil (maybe) or butter flavored Crisco?
I do have one other prison cooking tip....if the person doesn't have a real measuring cup, a regular coffee cup will do. As long as the same cup is used for all the measuring, the ratios will be the same.
Good luck!
If a crockpot is hot enough to make peanut brittle in it, you could also make marshmallow bars. I buy generic rice krispies cheap, and melt a whole bag of marshmallows, a stick of margarine or butter and then mix in as much rice krispies as I can. My teens love them.
PoohBearsGirl 10-04-2003, 11:28 AM If anyone has any decent recipes my man can make from common canteen supplies ... feel free to PM me. Often times he skips chow hall and the guys will all contribute something ... throw it in a crock pot .... Give it a name ... and eat!
tebkrg 10-04-2003, 01:27 PM We have tried many recipes in the crock pot and any 'no bake' recipe that they can get the ingredients for is possible to make in the CP!!! A little imagination is all that is required.
Dannysmom 10-14-2003, 08:53 PM Teb,

angelica916 10-14-2003, 09:04 PM I JUST PLUGGED IN MY CROCK POT...NEED I SAY MORE:)
eddyswife39 10-25-2003, 12:13 PM Thanks for that crockpot site! I'm gonna print out that whole list and send it to my man, then he can right me back and tell me which ones he wants me to print out for him to try!
eddyswife39 10-26-2003, 11:26 AM Is a crock pot the same as a hot pot? My husband says he has a hot pot, so I sent him these crock pot recipes, but now I'm wondering if it's the same thing, and if he will even be able to use those recipes! :o
louise conrad 11-11-2003, 06:37 PM HOT POT JUST FOR HEATING WATER THEY LOVE IT FOR THERE COFFEE,TEA ECT..... MY OTHER 1/2 THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY WHEN I ASKED. I JUST LAUGHED LIKE I KNEW AND WAS ONLY PULLING HIS LEG HEHEHAHA. I'LL NEVER TELL HIM THE TRUTH....
eddyswife39 11-11-2003, 09:38 PM OK, he told me that a hot pot & a crock pot are the same thing, in case anyone else wanted to know!! He just hasn't been able to get one yet, he's waiting on some money! He said the recipes sounded really good though, so thanks for that site again!
Oh my gosh, can you believe it???? I actually cooked something today!! LOL
I had some Country Ribs sitting in the fridgerator and had to cook them up today. But I am having a 'blah' kind of day and didn't feel like doing all the dishes in order to cook, so I drug out my crock pot and threw in the meat.
As I stood, staring into my fridge for inspiration on what to do with the ribs, I started just pulling bottles out!! I wanted to BBQ them, but alas, no BBQ sauce, so I kinda invented a sauce.....
Here is what I did.
Couple of healthy squirts of Hickory Farms Cranberry Mustard sauce. Then just one more squirt for the fun of it, making sure the tops of the ribs were covered.
Then for a little heat, I added a dolop of Bombay Mango sauce. Ya, I know it is for beef, lamb and chicken, but I had pork. Deal with it.
Now to offset the tartness of the Cranberry Mustard and the heat of the Bombay Mango sauce, I added a couple of teaspoons of Marionberry Jam.
(are you disgusted yet??)
Satisfied with the sauce, I chopped up the wilting celery stalk, the partically mushy green pepper, a white onion and 4 cloves of garlic. Salt and pepper to taste.
Then, just before I put the lid on the crock pot, I splashed the whole thing with Dr Pepper and topped it off with a couple of shakes of Cumin spice.
Put the lid on and waited.
It was so delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate two pieces of meat already and drank half the sauce!!!!
I love just opening the frigde and seeing where insperation takes me!!!

mlk2001 09-12-2004, 07:39 PM lmao..... girl you need to come to my house and get an insperation... although you wont find all those fancy sounding sauces here..

queenmae2u 09-13-2004, 11:11 AM My cousin has a recipe for ribs in a crock pot using some spices and grape jelly............GRAPE JELLY! LOL But, she swears by them, saying they're very yummy and tender. Who'd to thunk it right??

penwife 09-17-2004, 01:03 AM Are you serious!?! OMG!!! You are a brave woman! How about a 'Coke' glaze for your ham I did it once and it was de lish!! I bet dr pepper would work too!
As mlk2001 is hiding in far away, remote forum, I thought this would be the perfect time to gather up a few ingredients and create a dish just in her honor.
In creating a new dish, one must first decide on the type of dish to be created. Will it be a main dish, casserole, stew, side dish, dessert.
I have decided on a main dish, sort of a one dish feeds all sort of thing. Then, just to make things intesting....... all ingredients must start with the letters M, L, or K!!!
Please feel free to add any ingredients you like.
** tee heee**
To the freshly washed and scrubbed dry crock pot, I start by throwing in:
M = Mussels, mushrooms, mustard seeds and misfits.
L = lentils, leeks, lemons, and laughter
K = kale, Kaffir lime leaves, kiwi and kookiness
**tee hee**
Now for some:
M = marjorim
L = legumes
K = ketchup
mlk2001 09-24-2004, 10:29 PM how about
M mussle
L long
K keeper
oh we were talking about food....LMAO
what remote forum was I suppose to be in. I will head there now...lol

softheart 09-24-2004, 10:46 PM Ok this is my only warning MLK keep it on topic..........:D You know that long muscle keeper won't go good in the crockpot........ :p
youuuu girls........
As I have already used up all the ingredients that start with the letter "K", I think we could include any ingredient that starts with the "k" sound. Like... cake. or crackers.
Ok, Softie we will behave *****crossing fingers behind back****
California Sunshine 09-24-2004, 11:52 PM starts with the K sound huh? How about throwing in some crab and croutons LOL
Cali... you have to add the M and the L too!!! This is for mlk!!!!
LOL
California Sunshine 09-25-2004, 01:32 AM Marshmellows
Licorice
So far we have
M = mussels, mushrooms, mustard seed, marjorim, meat, marshmellows, misfits
L = lentils, leeks, lemons, legumes, loving, licorice, laughter
K = kale, Kaffir lime leaves, kiwi, ketchup, croutons, crab, kindness, kookiness
Any other suggestions. My stomach hasn't started churning yet.....

jessnkat 11-18-2004, 04:20 PM Okay - I got a new crockpot a couple months ago. It came with one of those new-fangled silicone bread pans, but no instructions on how to use it!
Do you know how is should be used? The crockpot came with a cooking rack too. Are these to be used together?
Help me - you are the Crockpot Queen of PTO!
Retired-18 11-18-2004, 04:27 PM ROFLMAO Kat! I never could figure out what that stuff was for so I just threw it away. I want bread, I'll go Krogering 'cause Betty Crocker I ain't!
The cooking rack is for certain roast recipes in the Crock Pot.
The bread pans?? Are they just regular bread pans for the oven? Kinda martha thing... crock pot some soup and have homemade bread???
I have made bread. It isn't fun, and takes too much time. For my money.... buy bread from a good bakery or soup shop. Like Great Northwest Harvest in Portland, OR... they have the best soups and specialty breads!
Keep the roasting rack.

jessnkat 11-19-2004, 08:59 AM It's one of those rubber bread pans - I guess it can be used in the oven also, but I'm still afraid it will melt!! Just don't seem right to put rubber in the oven!! I just assumed that it was for the crockpot since it came with it, but I don't know maybe your right and it was just a freebie not be used with it.
I've been looking at crock pot recipes on-line and I've found several good sounding cake recipes that say to use a 2 lb. coffee can or insert - Reckon' I can use this rubbery pan in place of those? Wonder if I just put it in there or what? Any ideas?
I love using my crock pot - there is nothing better (or easier) than coming home to dinner being ready when you walk in the door at night and soup is my favorite!
Thanks for your help! Maybe I'll figure out that bread pan yet!
Cottontail 11-19-2004, 09:29 AM I did some searching because I was curious myself, and it seems that you can bake bread and things in the panusing the crockpot!!! That's pretty cool. Maybe I am going to have to buy a new one. I love the crockpot too!!! It's so easy and the food is really tasty. Meats come out so tender when they slow cook.
Now waht you guys need is a bread machine!!! They are the greatest!!! Homemade bread in a flash, and you can even buy the bread mix if you don't want to make your own. You throw them right in hit the button and presto a delicious loaf of bread! :D
jessnkat 11-19-2004, 09:38 AM Oh, yeah Cottontail - love the bread machine too! I need a new one with a timer to start itself though. I JUST HAD TO HAVE one when they first came out and mine is THAT old!
Did you find any recipes using that rubber bread pan? What do I do - just put it in the pot? Tell me where you found something about it - I've searched and come up with nothing.
Cottontail 11-19-2004, 10:04 AM Sounds like it's the bread and cake pan...
I found these recipes at at the Rival website. They are all cake recipes that call for the pan. :)

Here's one for Banana nut bread.

Peanut butter swirl cheesecake mmmmm... :D
http://www.recipelink.com/mf/31/19741
It sounds like any of the recipes that call for the coffee can be use as well, just substitute with the cake pan.
jessnkat 11-19-2004, 10:21 AM Hey Cottontail, Thanks! Those sound good! I guess I'm just gonna have to play with that bread pan and test it out!

ItsMichelle 06-10-2005, 02:33 PM I was inspired after reading all the cream of mushroom recipes on another post and was wondering if whoever has some great crock pot recipes could post them here.
After work, I don't always feel like cooking and would love to just put on a crock pot of something before I leave so it's ready when I get home to eat as is, or maybe make something else non time consuming to go with it.
Hmm, I'm also hungry right now...............
Colossians3Two 06-10-2005, 11:58 PM Hi there! I use my crock pot at least once a week, I love it! Another great cooking item that's easy to use is a terra cotta baker. I love all of mine, I have 3! You can put all your meal in it, put it in the microwave and relax! 45 minutes to an hour later, you have a nice meal all done and healthy for you, no oils or fat needed. Anyway, back to the crockpot, lol, I ususally cook chicken or pot roast in mine, yum! LOTS of recipes out there. I will post a couple of recipes tomorrow. Looking forward to this thread!
God Bless!
ItsMichelle 06-11-2005, 12:03 AM Terra Cotta Baker????
Never heard of it........where do I get one?
talulahpeach 06-11-2005, 12:21 AM i love to make enchiladas with mine. makes it much quicker after work! i cook chicken and a can of green enchilada sauce with chicken and onions in the crock pot. i just use chicken breasts and by the time im home they are easy to shred. after i shred up all the chicken i put the mixture along with some cilantro and cheese, (i use mexican melting cheese, but mozzerella works well too) into tortillas, put them in a pan, pour another can of enchilada sauce, or the remaing sauce from the crock pot over the top, bake for 25 minutes, add more cheese on top, and bake for another 5 minutes.
top with sour cream and more cilantro!
then i just heat up a can of refried pinto beans with a can of green chiles and serve with chips.
sorry i didnt write it in recipe form! its very simple though, and tastes AMAZING!
Ravenslove 06-11-2005, 08:40 AM ok my favorite crock pot recipe:
cover the bottom of the pot with potatoes, I cube them
then carrots
one or two celery cut for flavor
take a inexpensive roast (it cooks so long it becomes real tender)
put it on top.
then pour in cream of mushroom or what ever cream soup you like
one can of water
turn the crock pot on low before you leave for work leave it on.
when you get home turn it up to high for about an hour, if you have the time.
Meet should pull apart with a fork.
this is very forgiving recipe you can forget things, add what ever you like, use whatever soup you have on hand. Just remember what you did so you can recreate a really good meal.
quinn 06-11-2005, 08:48 AM I use mine to cook my roast in. I brown it then put in crock pot, add carrots, potatos, onions, and cook all day. I also like to do sphagetti ?sp?, chili, and I like the banquet crock pot dinners, those are very good!
1dayatatime 06-11-2005, 10:08 AM Ravewn,
What kind of roast do you use? I always look for roast at the store but they are so EXPENSIVE!!

Mmmmm, sounds yummy
asweetangel99 06-12-2005, 10:46 PM This might sound like a cop out. but you know those hamburger helper kits? Well, they have a slow cooker helper and me and my (well now ex) just loved the beef stew kit. Just add beef stew meat, I would throw in some mushrooms and a basil leaf for extra flavor, pop that baby on low for 8 hrs, but man, that kit was soooooo yummy. I swear by it.
Livinoac 06-12-2005, 10:48 PM I love this thread...I don't have anything to add but I'm writing lots of stuff down!!! :)
California Sunshine 06-12-2005, 10:58 PM I have used this one a few times and made sandwiches with it
2 lb. boneless stew meat
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 bottle BBQ sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
Place stew meat in crock pot. Combine remaining ingredients & pour over stew meat. More BBQ sauce may be added if needed. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 4 to 6 hours or until stew meat is tender. Stir the meat with a fork to shred. Mix well in sauce. Serve on hamburger buns or bread.
California Sunshine 06-12-2005, 11:01 PM and this chili one
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef (I usually use ground round)
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery (usually don't include this in mine)
1 can kidney beans
1 can tomato sauce
1 pkg. chili seasoning
1 can tomatoes
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Brown meat in a large skillet. Add celery, onion & bell pepper & cook until almost done. Drain & place in crock pot. Add remaining ingredients to crock pot & stir to mix. Cook 3 to 4 hours until done.
betrayed_4_life 06-12-2005, 11:11 PM Peel and cube 8 potatoes - partial boil them (they should still be crunchy) with 1/2 diced onion.
Add potatoes (drained) to crock pot w/
1 - can of nacho cheese soup
1 - med tub of low fat sour cream
1 - stick of butter
Stir and cook on low - serve with your favorite meat - my kids LOVE this with baked chicken.
I used to use my crock pot all the time and I loved it! But now that it's just me here I don't cook so much anymore. Anyhow, one of my favs was bonless BBQ ribs. Just brown the ribs and put them in the crock with some onion and BBQ sauce... they are soooo tender by the time you get home from work... I usually got a macaroni or potato salad to go with. I also cooked pork chops the same way with mushroom soup. I did alot of roasts too, and of coarse beef stew, I think that was my hubby's fav.
shewhocrochetsk 09-27-2005, 05:05 AM But, I can't say I've ever seen cookie recipes done in a crock pot. (But, never say never...it could be entirely possible!)
I tend to use my crock pot quite a bit- some of my favorites are
1. steak in the crock pot
2. Minute/cubed steak in the crock pot
3. Beefy Mushroom and noodles
4. Pot Roast
5. Swedish Cabbage Rolls...
6. BBQ Beef
7. Meatball Hoagies
8. Pork Chops
( I've YET to find a chicken dish for the Crock Pot that's edible!)

8 to 10 hamburger buns, split (and toasted, if desired)
Lettuce leaves (optional)
Tomato slices (optional)
Directions
1. Trim fat from meat. If necessary, cut roast to fit into a 31/2- to 5-quart crockery cooker. Sprinkle meat with the salt and pepper. In a large skillet brown meat on all sides in hot oil. Drain off fat. Transfer meat to cooker. Add onions, the 1 cup root beer, and garlic.
2. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.
3. Meanwhile, for sauce, in a medium saucepan combine the 2 cans or bottles of root beer and the chili sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Boil gently, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 2 cups. Add root beer concentrate and bottled hot pepper sauce, if desired.
4. Transfer roast to a cutting board or serving platter. Using a slotted spoon, remove onions from cooking juices and place on serving platter. Discard juices. Using 2 forks, pull meat apart into shreds. To serve, line buns with lettuce leaves and tomato slices, if desired. Add meat and onions; spoon on sauce. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
*Note: Do not substitute with diet root beer.
