I got a phone call last night from Ventress. He said someone was brought in last week and he has something, he didn't know if it was chicken pox, but they are in lockdown for 21 days in Dorm 9. We haven't seen him in over 7 months and neither has his children. We are going to call the prison next week for confirmation. Otherwise, we wait til March 26.

So convenient for the prison to declare lockdown and no visitation.

My loved one has a parole hearing today, please pray for wisdom of the parole board.

God bless you and your loved ones

According to my son when I spoke to him on Sunday, both dorm#7 & dorm#10 are under quarantine. He will be calling me this afternoon and I will let you all know the status. Or if you wanted you could call and speak to Ms. Kerry the Warden's secretary, she very nice.

Here's an update on my loved one at Ventress. He landed there because he violated his parole. He is from Winfield and spent 6 months in the Marion Co jail, then he got moved to Kilby then Ventress over the Christmas/New Years holiday. He had a parole hearing Wednesday. He was denied but we called his CRO Wednesday afternoon and she said she got orders to get him out and put him in house arrest. He is doing a 10 year sentence, he did one yr house arrest last year, then someone turned him in, the police came to his house and found him soaking pills. He doesn't even have a house, how can he do house arrest? I'm glad he's getting out, when I don't know. What all this means, I have no idea but just thought I'd share. We will call the warden's office next week to find out about the quarantine, I'm sure the officers and staff love not having visitation. Sounds fishy to me.
God Bless you and your loved ones.

I just got word today that the quarantine, at least for Dorm 9 at Ventress, has been lifted and we will be visiting on Saturday. He has not seen his children in almost a year. I'm nervous, never visited anyone in prison but I am ready!

God bless you and your loved ones

If you are driving from Montgomery, do you get to the prison before you go thru Clayton? Is the prison anywhere near the airport?

We went Sat (2/4), it's God's country down there. We waited on line in the driveway for an hour. Everyone inside was very nice to us. The visitation room was clean and well-lit. The inmates were better behaved than some of the visitors! But everything went well. Now I know what you mean about the vending machines!

My inmate is getting out tomorrow. He was sentenced to 10 yrs a couple of years ago, spent 1 yr on house arrest, violated his probation with another drug charge 8 mos ago now they are turning him loose. He is not ready. We get a phone call that we have to go pick him up at the prison, take him all the way to Winfield to get his "bracelet" and I guess take him home with us. It's bizarre. Now I have to feed him and clothe him and worry about him getting ahold of drugs again. He's 28 and he tried drugs when he was 10 yrs old, in his mom's custody. His dad ( my fiance ) got custody of him then and has tried to keep him clean all these years. What makes the justice system think we can do it now? His dad and I are scared to death.

His dad is an ex-con, he did his required time, and has been clean for 30 yrs. I guess my philosphy about crime is different than most on here. I read all your posts of how you love your inmate. I guess I love our son with a Christian love but he has given us nothing but heartache since he has been on meth. He steals, he lies and he's violent. When his dad confronted him about 2 yrs ago when he was "free" and on drugs, he had his father arrested for domestic violence, even tho there was no physical violence. And the only time he is remorseful is when he is sitting in prison. He has had no classes, no programs, no rehab, no training of any kind. Prison was actually good for him. They kept him busy there (and clean!) and now all he's going to do is have time on his hands. He has no job, no clothes (his mom trashed anything he had), no home. He lost custody of his kids. Wish us well.

God bless you and your loved ones.

Kat Kat,

I am glad visitation went well...I think all of alabama's prisons are in the middle of nowhere (gods country) You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and remember this alabama family is here whenever you need to talk.
